Mobile Im problem on alltel firmware for v3c

Hi i recently flashed my vzw firmware to the alltel 4.04 upgrade firmware,i got all the data features fixed,i downloaded mobile im,i can run it and sign in but when im typing a message i cant space anymore... the # key was used for spacing in verizon firmware,is there any fix for this? i cant find it anywhere...any help would be great...thanks alot......

Sorry for any ignorance in my forum posting,as ive never used forums very much...just to add a little info to the problem,ive flashed to this firmware and back 3 times and applied all the fixes and went over them again and again to make sure everything was correct,and yet the problem with mobile im still remains,i noticed that when sending text messages that the alltel firmware uses * button for spacing,but on mobile im * was used for switching between abc,123,symbol. looks to me like they are opposite on each firmware,would that be the cause here? if so is there anything that can change these button commands to the opposites? id really like to get rid of the terrible verizon firmware and keep the alltel one if possible,but i really need Mobile IM working correctly...sorry for any ignorance once again,any help would be greatly appreciated..Thanks in advance
