Beginner help needed for Motorola V3M models ONLY!

Hi ya'll!

Please forgive the title, but just about ANYWHERE I've searched online (moddermoto or w/e, howard, hacktherazr, etcetc) always gets into the Vxxxx series or the V3C or whatever it is. I want a SIMPLE, comprehensive set of answers for the questions I have. Mainly because of all the sites I've stumbled across and read over, it confuses the living Heck out of me!! Help?

I just recently recieved a Motorola V3M on Sept 21st for my 21st birthday. I'm brand-new to this technology, though the interface is simple enough. I've read through the manual it came with. Now tell me something, I know that some service providers lock some of the phone's functionality, like Verizon.

Well, come to discover, my phone came from a Verizon provider. Exactly how much has Verizon locked out compared to other providers?

What I'd like to do is open up all the locked/hidden functions that I've seen/heard some of them have. One of my friends has his Razr SO pimped out, it flashes to sound, he can put his own music on it for ringtones, and he can put pics from his PC on it as a background. He even has a THEME on his! I was like, "WHOAH!!!" when I saw this!

I've already tried installing programs like BitPim, P2KManager, P2KCommander, and P2KSeem editor...I'm SO confused!!! Like I said, I'm COMPLETELY and UTTERLY new to all this, including the words, phrases, and abbreviations, and so much of the rest of it. I just know that once I can figure all this stuff out, I'll be able to do some really cool stuff with my Razr!


The one question I have is...


Does ANYONE out there know of a place I can find STEP by STEP instructions (possibly with images/examples) for BEGINNERS doing this stuff that WON'T send me to a million different websites to download different programs? If anyone does, I'd REALLY appreciate it, and thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Lawzy I KNOW how you feel. I went to hacktherazr's guides for step by step. I almost overlooked the icon at the top of the page that says "guides" it was easy for me to follow. I also watched a "kid" unlock his on utube, downloaded the video and paused after each step. I do hope that you find the info you're looking.....I felt so overwhelmed when I was reading this and other forums. I also got CONFUSED when I downloaded several programs as to which ones I need to use. What a science this is.....I SO APPRECIATE all the information that is shared though

Best place to start is Mark_V's site here is the generic link to VZW Razr info RAZR, V3C, V3M, E815 Motorola/LG Mobile Phone Help Pages by Mark Venture - V3C 1 once you get threw that click on the link on the left that says How To's and you'll be good to go and find whatever info/guide you need to hcak you Razr.

For one thing like you mentioned most of what you see on a lot of sites is not relatitve to CDMA Razr's. The link I posted, Hofo, and Hacktherazr have a good list and a lot of quality info relative to the CDMA version of the Razr which is the key. Again to much of what you see is referencing GSM Razr's which work and function completely different then the CDMA model.

One thing I will mention tho being you have VZW and they have there custom UI you will not be able to skin you phone like you friend. Only way that is possible is if you flash your Razr to another carriers firmware to get the Motorola user interface back. The VZW UI ( user interface ) is not skinnable. Secondly the light thing you mentioned is not possible on the VZW Razr no matter what. That is a hack that is only relative to the GSM model Razr's. In all honesty it's really not hard to unlock and hack these once you get a good feeling of how it works, and what software is needed to get the hack done you want. I have all my Moto phones from VZW flashed to a different carriers user interface just so they are completely unlocked. The only one that is not flashed is my Maxx Ve seeing as that phone is exclusive to VZW at this time so there is no leaked firmware to flash to to unlock it.
