| I am trying to connect my V3m to my pc so I can put my ringtones that I create on it. I do not have a memory card for the phone yet. I do have it set to USB Drive in the connections-USB settings. The phone connects and is listed as a modem. Do you need to have a memory card for the phone to act like an external drive? If not, are there any special drivers I need and where could I get them? Thanks in advance Allen |

FYI to have you comp see the phone as a external hard disk ( ie removable drive) it does need to have a memory stick. Now as far as ring tones go you can't have them on the TF card anyways. They must reside on the actual memory of the phone to be useable. So getting a Card really won't be of much help for ring tones. You can however put ring tones on the phone without a card. To do so there are a few option, you can set your phone up with BitPim, MPT, or p2kcommander to put the tones on it.

| Thanks for the info. I already knew I'd have to put them onto the phones internal memory, I just didn't have a way to get them 'on the phone' without the mem card. |

do you have a mini USB cable from like a digital camera or anything. If so then you are good to go and just use software to get the ring tones on the phone. I'm guessing you have the cable seeing as you said the comp is seeing the phone as a modem which is the correct mode to use with BitPim, MPT or QPST. So by the sounds of it you are close to what you want to do, you just need to decide which software you want to use and then move forward from there. In all honesty using MPT is the easiest, but you can use BitPim, or p2kcommander along with MSU or PST if need be. The reason I suggest MPT is because it will put the tone in the correct place and you don't have to delete the mytone.db file. It's no big deal to delete it except for the fact that every time you delete that file it resets all the ring tones on your phone so if you have contacts set with a specific tone you'd have to go back in and set it again after deleting that file. |
