Default Problem with MPT & MP3s w/Verizon v3m

Ok, I seem edited my phone so it could use the multimedia tool in mpt (4.5.1c). I followed the steps on this post http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ra...work-razr.html (Motorola Phone Tools doesn't work with RAZR V3m?) very carefully and I thought I got it all right but in mpt when I try to click on a MP3 in my computer in the melody studio I get a little pop up window that says "We could not detect a multimedia software component on your system." I have no idea what this means, if it's the phone or mpt or how to fix it. I did all this mainly so I could convert my mp3s into ring tones so I'm rather disappointed. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, they would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Ok, after lots of searching and lots and lots of trial and error I got it working. I'm going to post what I did to fix it in case someone else might be having the same problem.
  • I first downloading Fraunhofer MPEG Layer-3 Audio Decoder Here( I am not 100% sure you need to download this but I did and I can't say if it made a difference or not, so I'm going to list it)
  • Next I followed the steps from Here

It was fairly easy but it did require that I edit the Registry and if done wrong it can cause some real damage to the point that you to have to re-install your OS. So be aware of that.

Also I'm using windows xp home sp2 just so ya know. Hope that helps anyone who might have the same problem.

FYI part of the problem could be you are trying to use version 4.51. there are reports that version has issues with the CDMA v3c & v3m. Tech support knows about it and stated they will fix the issue with the next release. It's one reason I still am running 4.36 at the moment for my v3c/v3m/slvr & Maxx. Glad to see you were able to get it working tho.
