Question I searched, can not find answer...help

OK. I did do a search, but after about an hour of looking can not find the answer, not to say it is not here, just didn't find it. I would like to know how to take off some of the preloaded ringtones/wallpapers on my phone. I have Mobile Phone Tools, RazrV3. Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance

pictures = /motorola/shared/pictures

audio = /motorola/shared/audio

FYI to use p2kcommander you need MSU or PST up and running in the back round before firing up p2kcommander. You can also use BitPim if you have not used PST or MSU before because BitPim runs off the Moto USB modem drivers which are the same as what MPT uses.

As a side not make sure any pic or tone you delete is not active/set to anyone or and ring style. Reason I say this is if you delete one that is active you menus will get all messed up.

Ok thank you...got everything you said, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty I think I will just leave it. Can not get either program (PK2, or Bitpim) to recognize my phone, and have sat here trying everything I can think of and find on net. So thanks again {\O/}

Ok. Now here is my problem. Any suggestions on keeping them both there....lol. If I have the Motorola USB Device there I can use the P2K commander but can not see the files I want, and Bitpim does not work without the modem thingy. I hope you understand what I am saying here, it is driving me batty!!! Hope you can help, {\O/}

Wink Re: I searched, can not find answer...help

OK. I am going to give you my rundown of all I have done. Bought Cable and Motorola Phone Tools. Plug it up had it running, can do some awesome things!!! Ok, now I want to delete preloaded wallpaper, screen savers, and ringtones, to make room for my own (MPT). So P2K commander, and Bitpim or/and PST. Do it, get all drivers, patches, etc...

Now If I open MPT I have the Motorola Modem, close MPT, open Bitpim...CAN NOT for nothin get this to see my phone!!! Close, open PST can get it to see my phone, then it takes away the Motorola USB Modem in my device manager and adds the Motorola USB Device 2 +'s down. Now I open P2K it reads my phone but does not give me the locations you said. It has mobile, then AlarmClock etc... no folder at all for pictures. and if I go into audio I have folder vavr when opened has a bunch of .va files I am assuming are my sounds and tones (BTW) how can I tell which is which, they are labeled file00.va, file01.va, etc...). But still no pictures????

Now with all that on the table, whatcha got for me. I hope I am just doing some small thing wrong...I am usually pretty good at reading and figuring these things on my own!

Again MANY MANY Thanks!!!!!!

that is normal, you can not have both driver sets loaded at the same time. If you are wanting to use p2kcommander along with PST which is a must your comp should see the phone as the Moto device like you mentioned.

The Moto USB modem drivers are only for use with MPT, BitPim, Radiocomm or QPST.

TYTYTY

Finally!!! That is good to know!!! Now can you please give me a rundown on what to do with PST, and P2Kcommander. How do I get to a/mobile/motorola, I do not see a motorola file, anywhere. Also do you know how to distinguish what tones are what...they are labeled the same with diff #'s.

Also I have read you can use bitpim with P2K to "see" hidden files, but how if both drivers can not be loaded at the same time.

Again many thanks, {\O/}

BitPim will display all files in the files system. When using p2kcommander if a folder or a file is empty it will not be displayed at all.

As for using p2k with BitPim no can do, does not work that way so just throw that out the window.

If all you want to do is delete my suggestion is just use BitPim make sure all programs are closed. The plug the phone in and make sure windows has it set in device manager as the Moto USB modem under modems. If it does fire up Bitpim click on view then go down to view filesystem. Once you do that you should see the filesystem tab on the left hand side. Now to set the phone, go to edit>setting and select you phone from the drop down. After that make sure the Auto-detect at startup is unchecked. Lastly you need to click on Browse com port, look for the moto USB modem on the list and select it. If it is listed under inoperable leave that screen open and just unplug the phone, click refresh and plug it back in again and click refresh ( you may have to do it more then once so no worries there). It should pop up under operable if it does select it and then okay you way out. Once you do that and get to the main screen click in the filesystem tab and you should get a third column to come up if it does click on the envelope in the column and it should start reading the filesystem. Now you can look for the file you want to delete in any of the folder on the phone.

Oh by the way I'd save a copy of any file you want to delete just so you have it as a backup for what ever reason down the road.

Thumbs up Re: I searched, can not find answer...help

OK. I will give it another shot, but I have not been able to get Pitpim to see my phone. I have a Razr V3 by t-mobile. Also I am trying to delete some of the preloaded ringtones/wallpapers/screensavers. I was told several times I can not do this with just Bitpim??????? I will let you know. Thanks a bunch {\O/}

Oooppps my bad, I did not realize you had a GSM model Razr ( ie T-mobile) BitPim won't work, it's mostly setup for CDMA phones which is why you are having issues is my guess.

Only other way to do it is have PST setup correctly and the use p2kcommander. I can't say how it will work myself tho because I don't use or mess around with GSM phones. I've always been with a CDMA carrier and the setup difference between hacking GSM & CDMA is completely different.
