Default Windows Vista, V3m, and Alltel.

This should be fun.

I used all the directions here:

http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ra...connected.html (Getting your V3C/M Connected)

And I am having some issues. I use the drivertools thing, and it goes though, (deleting old files, reinstalling blah blah blah). Well, after all that goes though, Vista does the whole "Detecting new hardware" thing, and says it cant find a driver for it. So I go to the device manager, I see it set up as a modem, but with a question mark, as in a messed up driver like it said. I specified drivertools, and it said it couldn't find a driver for it. It also says unable to charge.

EDIT: I just realized, It shows up under "other devices" not modems in the device manager.

I am expert on this phenomena, however all relevant criteria is too detailed for this forum. Start with the very latest MPT 4.5, it will give you the requisite drivers. Contact me boonechnl@AOL.com if you can-not take it from there. I have the RAZR V3x,Vista, with Cingular running fine, but have a slow DL -speed. I am used to 800 Kbps+ with my HTC 8525 on the same Vista,Cingular set-up.

MPT does NOT go up to version 4.5. The newest version is 4.36c. Also, anything you disclose about your GSM razr probably will not apply to Alltel's CDMA razr. Hopefully it does, but please use caution when directing someone using a VERY different phone than you.

Cincyball it took me awhile to get back to your retort because I been busy. I take the words "expert" and the fact of being a licensed P.E. very seriously. You are very mistaken on MPT 4.36, the latest is 4.5 and it is Vista compatible which is the entire matter at issue for that problem described. Furthermore, the GSM vs. CDMA issue is irrelevant in that regard because this is simply a driver/Vista problem.

MPT has an issue and DOES NOT update to 4.50. The forums at bvrp.com say so. I did not say 4.50 didnt exist, but the live update from 4.36 to 4.5 does not work. There are multiple threads on their help forums discussing this. If it does now, then that means they have fixed it. But when I made that post, it was not something they had working yet. And as for GSM vs CDMA, I did not say it had direct bearing on anything...just to be wary that some recommendations for GSM phones will not work for CDMA phones. I am not sure what you being a PE has anything to do with anyhthing here.

Signal Re: Windows Vista, V3m, and Alltel.

Cincyball you need to chill bro, I essentially feel that you have stepped in where you shouldn't have. I could have helped this guy immediately and you rained on it without being circumspect. I had resolved the Vista driver issue with Motorola,as well as a few other devices, prior to even considering MPT. MPT was an afterthought and also somewhat circumstant to other issues I was helping a colleague with. Furthermore I had been running 4.5 flawlessly for the inquiree's exact application{for my colleague}at the exact time I made the representation that he could seek help there. { I was trying to allow this guy to learn on his own, rather simply with MPT4.5 for a diligent guy, as opposed to having to attempt to walk him through my work to achieve the objective w/o MPT.} Lastly, you made an astute observation regarding my PE,which is-not requisite for this for this forum, excepting it began with my MSEE. I am not here to tout my credentials though and I have provided that simply FYI to establish that you are-not dealing with an amateur and that I took umbrage with your GSM vs. CDMA admonition when it had no relevance to his problem. You're still my friend though Cincyball-Peace
