I installed the drivers to make it appear as a usb modem. It now charges when I plug it into my computer. I download bitpim and install it. I select the V3cm because the tutorial I read on some other forums said to. Then I browse for the port its on but it always shows the usb port as being on COM 3 and always being unavailable to use. One time it was avialable and it game me my phone info, but when I tried to send/receive stuff it would say cannot communicate with filesystem of something. AHH, that was a mouthful. So plz if you have gotton a USCC phone working on your computer to transfer ringtones/wallpaper plz tell me how you did it. Thx in advance |

I don't have a USCC phone but I've read somewhere about if you see the port as unavailable you want to make sure to quit any other programs you may have been running that were connecting to your phone. Also try unplugging and then replugging in the phone, and then click on refresh and see if it becomes available. It should, otherwise, don't know where to go from there, but maybe someone else might.

If all else fails, connect ur phone with it powered off. Then open bitpim and u shoudl see it listed as available ports. If not, unplug, replug, (still off) and hit refresh and that should solve it. Let me guess, you have Windows XP Media Center? This is the common culprit. If you do, I have read it has something to do with the caller id portion of MCE that hogs the comm ports and creates these probs.

Ok, if it shows for 2 secs, then reverts back, have u tried unplugging it, plugging it back in (still off) and hitting refresh to see if it sticks under available ports?

| Yes, I realize this, he seems to have given up though so I was just letting him know if he ever decided he did want to figure out what was going on and get it to work, we'd be happy to help.

Hey guys, I was having the exact same problemm, except with Samsung a680, last time I connected to my phone was when I had XP Pro, and I just recently upgraded to XP Media Centre. Of course, it's been several months since I've connected to my phone, and I was having the same issues as nccgs was, my Samsung drivers were showing as COM3 in BitPim, but the port was always unavailable. I tried the same tricks stated here, and it was then that I realized I was trying to connect to the phone while it was flipped closed. As soon as you flip it open, the port becomes available (yes, I know, I was brain-dead for awhile |

Hey Kro, I never heard of that, so I never recommended that to him. Although in another post -> http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/418782-post3.html he used a comp with XP Home, and everything worked flawlessly. So it was definitely his MCE. Now, with your phone, do u have to have the flip open when connecting to anything besides MCE? Or is it with MCE only? I never even gave this a thought! Hope u are right, and hope it works for the razr's as well...it will make a lot of people happy.

Yea, under normal conditions, the phone can be shut...heck, it even works with it off. Never tried with it flipped open. Thanks for the input.
