I tricked the MPT software by unplugging the USB cord during autodetection twice in order to be able to manually select the drivers and change it to v3mm without having to do any seems.

MPT recognizes my phone and connects just fine. i can upload my phonebook and create a backup and it works perfectly.

What i dont get is that the moment i click on Multimedia Studio and the MMS window opens, i automatically lose connection to the phone. if you hold the mouse over the icon in the task bar at the bottom right of the screen next to the date/time, it says "Modem Management Disabled" i close the MM studio window and the connection comes right back up for about 2 seconds b4 i lose connection. the phone icon on the MPT phone then says " Mobile not connected" and does not recognize a connection to my phone unless i unplug it and plug it back in. It doesnt really matter though b/c the moment i open up the Multimedia Studio window i lose the connection again.

Is there something i'm missing here?
Are you using a Verizon V3m? If so, there is no way around it, you must do at least one seem edit. It enables USB data transfer in MPT, so that would be why our are losing your connection. The other seem edit that you would do is to enable the Multimedia studio, rather than having to try and trick MPT. Let me know which phone u are using so we can narrow it down.

Yes i have the silver v3m. i thought i had read somewhere that doing what i had done so far would be sufficient and was an alternative to doing any seem edits. I was also hoping to spend less time downloading more software that will just take up space on my harddrive all because Verizon sucks. I'll get to it later tonight and we'll see how it goes. thanks alot though! you've been extremely helpful already

What you have done is sufficient to enable multimedia, but if you want to transfer data, you need to do that one seem edit, and if u are doing the one, might as well do the second one (they arent hard at all)

Seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes 0000, Offset 006a, Bit 0 - Check to On to enable usb data transfer

Seem 2827, Record 1, Bytes 22, Offset 0006, Bits 0,2,3,6 - ON, Bits 1,4,5,7 Leave OFF to enable MultiMedia Studio

THANK YOU! i forgot to let you know. I came home and did the two seem edits and it has worked flawlessly since. This almost makes up for how much verizon sucks now days. Atleast now i can do everything on my phone that my girlfriend could already do with hers just b/c she has t-mobile haha.

is there any way to get in to VCAST? because it was on my phone and free for a month when i first got it. i downloaded a couple of free music videos which are still on my phone, but i cant even get to the vcast menu page since i have to pay for it now. Im guessing thats probably closer to the border of illegal and ppl wont want to disclose that info. im just curious if its possible or if anyone has heard of people doing that

Glad your phone is working for you. As for Vcast, there is no hack for free vcast, and since i have never used it, I dont know what works and what doesnt if u are subscribed vs unsubscribed. You can set up a hack to use the wireless web for free (instead of the $5/month). It will use your minutes like a regular voice call, but that means on nights and weekends, it would be extremely free.

Hi, here is the thread I started regarding free wap from your phone.

http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ra...-free-dun.html (Free WAP/ Free DUN)

I suggest using the hack the razr proxy setup (intsead of the google proxy). It allows a lot more versatile browsing. It is quick and free to dign up on their site...so when u log into wap, it is secure. Just keep in mind, when it says to use wap.hacktherazr.com for the gateway, use hacktherazr.net instead...people have been having problems with the former. If that doesnt make sense as u are reading this, that is fine, u will understand as u start going thru the process

If u have questions, problems, please post them in that link I provided which is the thread regarding Free Wap. Thanks and good luck!

Any ideas why I might be having file transfer errors after cropping an mp3?
[img=http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/263/processingfailedfg4.png]
I found out you can save the files as *.amr to your PC then rename them to .mp3 and they play fine. Didn't fix that problem though.

Definitely going to look into the wap link. Good looks Cincy.

Alright I have the newest MPTs. All I am wanting to do is add a ringtone to my phone from a regular mp3. I crop it and what not on the MPT.

So now whenever I save the crop to my computer it is fine. Whenever I'm trying to transfer it over to my phone now it says mp3 codec error.

I read in a post in this thread that you had to install the mp3s to the root folder. I've tried and all MPT does it stick it in the audio or music folder.

I have some mp3s on my phone, and whenever I go to apply them as a ringtone they are not there. I have tried saving the crop as a different filetype. ( .Wav etc..)

Is there something I am doing wrong? Please help I have searched for mp3 codec error, and everyone elses post seems to not have been answered yet.

Do I have to have a lock on the mp3? Do I have to do something on the phone? Is it the mp3 itself (Megadeth - Gears of war)? Is it the phone itself (Cingular Razer V3)?

I can give more information, so help me, help you, to help me

yeah. instead of saving it to your computer, click transfer to phone. then go to file transfer studio and send it to your computer from the phone there.

Newb - forgive me if this is not the correct forum. It appears everyone is more knowedgeable than myself, so i am looking for some assistance: So here it goes: I have a RazrV3m on a Veriaon Network and I was successful in getting MPT to work with the Razr thru another forum - thank you. I am able to crop and upload MP3's from my PC to Phone. They upload to the audio folder However, when I look on the phone the files are loaded to: Get it now / Get Tunes & Tones / My Music.. My ringtones are located in root Get it now / Get Tunes & Tones: If I go under options in this folder, I can assign an mp3 file as a ringtone, under Get it now / Get Tunes & Tones / My Music.. mp3 .. I can play and erase the mp3. Is there any way to upload to Get it now / Get Tunes & Tones (have the file appear where my ringtones are located) or did I do something wrong in the SEEM steps? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I'm following your great directions for how to create an mp3 file but still not working. I have a KRZR red and when I try to save my cropped song as an mp3 it says "failed to create file" I've tried saving as a wav or amr file and then transfering but that is not working. it will also say" supported format mp3 codec may be inappropriate or missing" but I have already checked into that and it is fine. What should I try now?

I have a k1m w/verizon. I have done the seem edits to enable MPT Multimedia-all went well, except
MPT will transfer pics to and from phone just fine, but when I create a ringtone, it fails to transfer to phone. error msg is "unsupported file format" I have tried saving and sending them as mp3 and wav, and also tried to send one of MPT's sample .mid ringtones, all giving the same error msg of unsupported file format. Have I missed something? Or is this unique to Verizon phones? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I have done these two seems and they are correct. I have tried a couple ways to get this to work:

1, used the most recent moto software update running in the background, launch p2k-commander - I can transfer files just fine but cannot assign them as ringtones to ppl.

2. Running MPT v4.51c got MMS to show up, selected file transfer to phone in the File Transfer Studio and got 'request denied by phone unsupported media type'. The media type was a converted .mid to .mp3. I have also read where iTunes can recognize the phone and transfer haven't figured that one out yet. My quandary is not in transferring the files-I can do that with p2kcommander. My quandary is assigning them to ppl as ringtones. You assistance will definitely be appreciated. Thanks. Hello everyone, I hope someone can help me. I have a v3m through verizon. I have downloaded MPT and done the seem edits to enable file transfers, I can transfer pics to my phone but cant get ringtones on it. I have read all the posts and cant find anyone with my same problem. Even if my audio file is mp3 i still get an error message that says unsupported media type when i try to transfer ringtones. Also when i click on the video studio in MPT it closes down and sends me back to the mobile phone icon on my desk top. Any ideas whats going on here. I believe I have MPT 4.5.6 and I do have motorola software update downloaded. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
