Cephurs,

Yea, you need to do the two seem edits in order to use the MultiMedia studio in MPT.

Seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes 0, Offset 006a, Bit 0 - Check to ON
Seem 2827, Record 1, Bytes 22, Offset 0006, Bits 0-2-3-6 ON, Bits 1-4-5-7 to OFF (default)

The first seem edit if u havent already done it enables usb data transferr in mPT

The second one turns ur phone into the v3mm u mentioned.

I am a Verizon Wireless user with a Razr V3m. can I add music files from my computer to use as ring tones (such as clips I have made from Wave Pad?) If so, can anyone tell me how? I am driving myself nuts trying!

Yes, follow the directions in this thread -> http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ra...work-razr.html (Motorola Phone Tools doesn't work with RAZR V3m?)

I clicked on that thread, but it appears I need to purchase Motorola Phone Tools 4.0. Is there no way to upload music to use as ring tones from the computer to the phone without purchasing additional software? I also own a Motorola Q and have done this transition seamlessly a few times with that. Help! Thanks!

The reason you could use with the Motorola Q is because it has OBEX, and FTP enabled. See this quote from the Verizon website:

Quote:
*The Motorola Q supports Bluetooth Profiles for wireless headsets, hands-free devices, car kits, stereo headsets, keyboards, personal area networks, desktop synchronization, object exchange (OBEX), file transfer (FTP), and more.
The Verizon V3M however, does NOT have the bluetooth capability. So we must do it thru the usb cable. So Verizon goes a step beyond and disables the audio folder that we would normally access and add ringtones. So we need a program such as Motorola Phone Tools to access the folder and send ringtones. But it goes a step further in the fact that we must HACK the phone so we can USE this program. Verizon purposely disabled our phone from working with MPT, trying to force the avg customer to purchase the ringtones instead of transferring for free. Here is the quote about the Verizon V3M and it's bluetooth features:

Quote:
*The Silver RAZR V3m supports the following Bluetooth Profiles: headset, handsfree, serial port and dial up networking. It does not support Bluetooth object transfer (OBEX) profiles. See Bluetooth for details.
This is why I pointed you towards that thread.

I saw the prices that the Verizon Store wanted for accessories....holders, 1GB MicroSD and opted out....

Subtotal of Items: $35.50
Shipping & Handling: $10.44
------
Total for this Order: $45.94

That is for two SanDisk 1GB MicroSD through Amazon.com (Eek Tech) as the vendor. That works out to $22.47 each with shipping and handling...far better than the $60 per card (plus tax) that Verizon wanted.

Got an outstanding holder through Ebay...lambskin/swivel springsteel clip/magnet closure....really protects the V3M!

This power seller on Ebay:

uniquemobile2( 5083)

$19.95 plus $5.95 flat rate (from Ontario, Canada to California) and it arrived in three days!!!

I will, as others have, read through the Cincyball posts and get these V3Ms (Verizon) to be "my" phones. As a grayheaded non tech type it might take me awhile but I refuse to add to Verizon's profit stream to have full use of what I have paid for. It would be like my computer having features disabled by my ISP so that I can only use their vendors for stuff I want on my PC.

At nearly 60 years of age I don't have the born with understanding of all the technical aspects the younger set have, but I shall prevail albeit slowly.

3gp is the correct format. MPT should be able to do this, however, I always used an external 3gp converter, and then I just uploaded the video in the File Transfer Studio rather than having MPT convert and send.

This site has been up and down for a while, so I hope the link is working when u click it, it is what I always used to make my videos.

BTW, nice find on the 1gb cards.

Yes, u are correct. You also have to hack your phone so it works properly with MPT.

Thread for getting your phone set up -> http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ra...work-razr.html (Motorola Phone Tools doesn't work with RAZR V3m?)

Thread where to get it ,and a discount code -> http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ra...d-mpt-4-a.html (Where can I download MPT 4.0 for V3M?)

So far the directions worked and I've got 2 v3m's syncing with media player 10 now. I'm soooooo excited! I'm also extremely glad I did not need to hack into my phone to do this.

Hi all, another n00b here, and at work, so please bear with me as I haven't been able to read all the thread posts yet, but I have tried to follow so here goes....

1. I have gotten the phone to charge ok from pc already.
2. I have downloaded but not unzipped mtpfix, but need to do this in order to use MWP.
3. In order to use mp3's from my PC for ringtones I need MPT, but can make them into 30 sec. w/ wave editor or such.
4. In order to transfer mp3's to t-flash card I need to use WMP in order to use phone as a mp3 player?
5. It is alot cheaper to download MTF w/ code for discount posted previously instead of buying from Alltel.

Question, if I have a card reader, can I not just transfer mp3's to t-flash card directly and use phone as a mp3 player? you all lost me on this part. and the phone does not use mp3 for music but converts to another format?
This is a real edited version of all the questions I have but am doing this between working and didn't want to lose the thread. Thanks

I'm sorry, were you asking me???

Just in case you were I just followed the directions in post number 1 of this thread to the letter. (I actually used the directions with my phone turned OFF until I got to the spot where it says you need to go to Get Tunes and Sync.)

I also have Verizon, so I would imagine the steps would be much easier for your phone to work with since Verizon likes to lock things a bit more.

Cincyball,

Hi, you helped me get my phone connected, and I'm still having a problem with something.. I have it working with MPT, and I'm able to move media files back and forth. But I can't get it to connect to PKtools. I start the program and it tries to install hardware, but no matter where I tell it to search for the files, it says it cannot install drivers. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks!!!

Hey squonk,

Any time you are running a P2K program, such asP2Kseem, or P2Kcommnader, u need to have the program MSU (motorola software updater) running in the background. B/c a lot of the p2ktools soud familiar, beware that p2ktools itself cant be used
