Cool Re: Getting your V3C/M Connected

I think it is important to know that if you currently have Windows Media Player 11, that nothing you do will work. Verizon tells me that you cannot sync anything or move any music to your phone, unless it is Media 10. They say you can still use V-Cast (at 1.99 per song!) and if you revert back to Media 10, you can sync songs to your phone. But I guess if you have the newest version of Media and want to keep it, your SOL with syncing your music.

Default Will someone please help me?

I had a previous Razr from AT&T and it worked fine with phone tools. I have been on the phone 8 times with the MPT software people and they had me call Motorola because my phone wouldn't install. It recognizes it at first then I receive an error message stating that: "Cannot install the hardware, Motorola Composite Device. An error occurred during installation of the device. Fatal error during installation." I have ran both Run DriverTool4.21a. and Motorola Driver Installer many many times to no avail. I have run Run Driver tool with the phone off and on...nothing. There is no Motorola modem listed in device manager although there was at the beginning from the old Razr. Motorola had me remove those from device manager. I have had this phone for 20 days and have been working on this every day since then. I do have the latest version of Phone Tools as well. I have a Verizon Razr V3m with VCast. Please help. In fact after I tried installing the phone now my Palm won't hotsync either. Could the USB ports think that something is connected to it even if there isn't?

Thanks! After difficult tech support calls with VZW and MOTO, blaming each other, your instructions to run MSU installed working drivers for my KRZR K1M. Thank you so much!

Verizon, Alltel, USCC - V3C/V3M
Connect your phone to a usb port on the back of your computer to avoid conflicts. Run DriverTool4.21a (attached). It will say V3C, and that is fine. Let it choose the driver automatically when prompted. It should install usbsermpt.sys. If it does, it will look like this in Device Manager

If you are not having success with that method, try doing the same method with your phone powered OFF.

Sprint V3M

To the best of my knowledge, the Sprint V3M needs the drivers included in Motorola Software Updater (MSU). The program is free. Connect your phone to the computer, run MSU. It will install 4 drivers. Let it choose the driver automatically for each of them. Once done, MSU should show your ESN, and say N/A for the two entries below. In Device Manager, it should look like the following. Note: You might need to run DriverTool4.21a as well if the process didn't work.

Syncing your V3M with WMP10 (From Mark's Site)

Download mtpfix.zip (attached)
Disconnect the phone from your PC, and leave it disconnected.
Turn your phone OFF.
Shutdown/reboot your PC.
When Windows starts up again, get logged in BUT DO NOT Open/Run/Launch any applications.
RUN the MTPFIX.exe you just downloaded.
Turn your phone on.
Reconnect your phone to a USB port built into your PC.
On the phone, go Get It Now -> Get Tunes and Tones -> Sync Music. Windows may try to install additional drivers... If it does, wait for it to complete, then start Windows Media Player on the PC.

If you have any questions regarding any of what was described above, please post them here.
You have mentioned about the V3M phone.
I have a Motorazr V3C phone which is having a Brew 3.x application platform.

1. Motorazr V3C phone will work the same way you explained for V3m.
2. Is this Brew phone needs Brew specific MTP protocol implementation ??
3. To sync any mobile with PC do the mobile also need to be installed with MTP with the supported OS and platform ??

Please provide me proper information what are needed to support MTP in both PC and Motorazr V3C phone, ASAP.

Thanks,
Siva

Default Re: Getting your V3C/M Connected

Thank you Cincyball for posting this information. My Motorola drivers became corrupted on two computers and I was unable to reinstall my Razr V3C, let alone get Phone Tools working again. Motorola seemed unable to help me, notwithstanding that I asked for updated drivers from them. After much Googling, I came across your post, and everything is now working properly. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
