Ok, so when the phone is off, and u connect it, it successfully installs your phone as a usb modem? Does it charge correctly?

Could you give detailed steps in what/how you are doing the install.

Also not many people have had much luck with the Music Essential Kit.

It is much eaiser using Motorola Phone Tools, (MPT). MPT comes with a cable. It will let also create your own ringtones and/or take a song and slice-and-dice it so you can make a ringtone out of it. It is not very expensive off of the internet.

OH, I would get the MPT with BONUS CD. The cd comes with a bunch of songs, ringtones and other essentials. It also UNBLOCKs the phone for you, if your provider is Verizon, so you do not have to worry about SEEM'ing the phone to make it work.

There is also some other software you can use to get songs over to the phone, but you would have to SEEM the phone, if your provider is Verizon, to allow the software to work.

You might want to verify this with SOMEONE else as I have been known to be WRONG, before.

Nope, not possible. You will have to flash to Alltel firmaware to get that function. Even then though, u may not be bale to...not 100% sure on that. I think thats what I have read elsewhere. Until then, u are stuck with programming only the down key.

Like many people here, I first started reading this thread to find out how to get my phone to play music. I have that problem solved. MPT and WMP10 work fine for me. I have also seemed, I think successfully, because I can use Bitpim to clip and place my music to be used as ringtones. The problem I'm having is getting MPT to allow me to use it's mutimedia tool, even though bitpim does what I need, I'd like to try MPT to do the same things I've done with Bitpim. Now, I've tried reinstalling MPT following the instructions posted on page 47 by rwsrichard without success. Part 6 of the instructions says MPT will try to find the needed drivers twice, for me it usually finds a driver right away. I can't get to the point where I can select my device as a CDMA or choose V3cm. I've tied deleting whatever drivers are installed to get MPT to allow me to choose a specific device and model, again, no success. Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong? At least Bitpim, MPT and WMP10 still work fine for me albeit with MPT multimedia.

Good thing you are checking in with someone else...alright, what version of MPT do you have installed? Is it the 4.21a? If so, have you (or do you think) you have done the seem edit to allow bluetooth transfer, AS WELL AS change the phone string ID from v3m to v3mM? Let me know those 2 things and we can go from there

Now you can rename them from .wp3 or .wma to .mid. They will play, but some complain that the quality is no longer there.

I have MPT 4.21a and seemed to allow bluetooth and usb transfer. I did not do anything with the phone string ID. Where is that done, in p2k?

Yes, run MSU, and then start p2kseem. Then follow these directions...

Phone ID String Edit for MPT... Thanks to Raalph253 and the New Seem found thread.... Doing this seem edit adds the missing "M" to the Identification string in the phone. Once completed, MPT's "auto-detection" of the phone will identify it as V710M, E815M, V3cM or V3mM and MPT will be configured accordingly (i.e. show the Multimedia Studio Icon). Note: if you do not wish to perform this seem edit, you can manually cofigure MPT for your phone, or Edit the Detect.inf as outlined HERE
NOTE: the Offset 6A Bit 0 seem edit listed above is still required to make the MultiMedia Studio feature of MPT actually work!!!

For the V3M this would be Seem 2827, Record 1, Bytes (h) 22, Offset 0006, "check the boxes" for bits 0-2-3-6 and "uncheck the boxes" for Bits 1-4-5-7

Once you do that and restart the phone, when u connect to MPT, it will auto detect as v3mM and will allow u to access Multimedia!

We have a SEEM list you can dl from this site that contains ALL that info that two others and I put together in an Excel spreadsheet, BUT some others would rather give the credit to someone else on another board.

Oh, well. I guess I'm wrong again.

If the file is a song, ie .mp3 or .wma, then the phone will play it on either the card or you can move it to the phone from the card and still play it.

If it is a ringtone, .mid file, then the phone will not play it from the card. The ringtone would have to be moved from the card to the phone, so the phone can recognize it.

So the short and skinny is that after spending time and engery figuring out how to do it, the only question left is "why did I want to do this?"
Kind of reminded you of going back to the OLD bbs's where the max speed you could logon to was 56k, provding that you had an exceptionally clear/non-static phone line, didn't it?

But I think it would beat 'nothing' if you have to have something.

I've talked to a couple of people who have 'tested' the new Vista. It is supposed to be a complete re-write from the ground up. I've seen a lot of the screen shots and they were pretty awesome.

The community college where I go, has already installed the versions being tested on a few of the machines. It is going to be pretty nice.

I have already setup all my computers here at the house to run Vista.

The XP came with a bunch of drivers, etc.., but the Vista is going to have even more.

I hope they get it setup where we can use WMP11. I am using it on two computers and like it MUCH better than 10, but it will not work with th V3m, yet.

Here's a new question. I have the V3M, and the Music Essentials Kit. I have the drivers on my computer. I downloaded/installed the Motorola Mobile PhoneTools Deluxe program onto my computer but it doesn't have my model driver listed in the list for manual configuration. I was wondering if there was a way to extract the driver from the CD, because I can't find the driver itself on neither the Music Essentials Kit CD nor the CD that came with my phone. If someone could upload it as a .zip or .rar so I can download it, I'd greatly appreciate it.

When you start Mototola Phone Tools, does it show the MultiMedia otpion?

If not try this:

On the phone displayed by MPT:
1.) Menu->Setup->General Setup->Communication
the "Device Configuration Wizard" will launch OR "change modem" option will display.
2.) You will then be prompted to select device a device. Choose "Motorola USB Modem" the click "next"
3.) The Detect Driver screen will appear
4.) Check the "Do not automatically detect the driver. Select from list" box, then click "next".
5.) On the next screen, Choose Motorola CDMA on the left and on the right, choose v3cm for Device model OR if you updated MPT to version 4.21, choose V3mm the click "next", the click "finish"
6.) You should now see multimedia studio as an option.

If you still have a problem, holler back, Cincyball or I can help you further along.

Oh, I like your avatar.

After getting a cup of coffe and re-reading your post I noticed something else.

It does not sound lke the drivers got installed. Depending on the version of Motorola Phone Tools (MPT), you will need to install the driver for that verson.

If MPT is version 4.21, here is the driver needed.

Perhaps you missed my post on the previous page where I corrected myself and apologized for describing the wrong cable. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
