Here is also another site that explains how to flash your V3m to the Alltel V3c. http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.p...User_Interface NOTE: If you do this, you will loose the transFlash and MP3 player capabilties, but you will have FULL functionality of the phone. I have not tried this because I have 3 - 1gb transFlash cards and I am anxious to put them to use on the phone. Oh, not to sound too stupid, but how the heck do you get the transFlash out of the V3m? When inserted, it makes a decisive 'clicking' sound, but I see no way of getting it out. |

I saw in another forum that the particular USB port matters. This appears to be true because I got my v3m to charge and sync music on the first try with the drivers and intructions from this thread on a tower computer with a USB PCI card but still can't get it to work on my Notebook computer. Any tips on the Notebook will be appreciated. Just FYI...I still see some suggestions about buying the cable specfically for the Razr. Note this is a standard mini-USB (like the kind the comes with some digital cameras and such) so you don't need a proprietary cable from Motorola and you do not need the Verizon Music Essentials package unless you need the headset. |

Perhaps a simple question, but I can't seem to find a way to adjust the brightness of the internal screen. Am I missing something? I think I've checked every possible menu item as well as the manuals. Iknow that my wifes v325 has an adjustment. Thanks.

I removed the battery cover and battery. But I cannot get a hold of the transFlash chip itself to get it out. I have pretty long finger nails, but all I am doing is scratching the chip all up. I tried some tweezers too, but no go. I am afraid to 'pry' it out with anything.

There is a little gold looking switch on the right side of the TF card slot that can be slid over to help release the TF. The scan disk card has a little ridge on it to that can help.

On another note, I can't seem to get either p2k commander or mpt to connect to the v3m, they both stall out forever trying to connect to the phone. the log for p2k looks like it's just trying to connect over and over, device does show up as a motorola usb modem in device manager. Any tips appreciated - the wma audio file transfer via media player is fine. I let it convert mp3's to wma at first but the quality was really poor, I recommend using another audio editor to convert your files to wma before you sync. The difference in quality was huge.

I had the same problem with my notebook charging my LG7000 UNLESS it was plugged into an AC outlet at the same time. It seems that the batteries by themselves, just could not provide the required power. FYI on the cables: I bought a kit to put a notebook hard drive in so I could have an external backup hard drive for my laptop. The kit came with a mini usb to regular usb cord. When I tried out the MPT program from Motorola, the hard drive kit cable worked just as well as the expensive cable that came with the software.

What I really want out of my phone is pretty simple: 1. mp3 player with easy file transfer - it'd be nice if I didn't have to convert to wma, most tunes are mp3 to begin with. it'd be nice not to be tied to using windows media player for that matter. 2. use any mp3 file as a ringtone, that doesn't appear to be an option currently. 3. easy transfer of pictures 4. get the corporate logos off my phone Is that too much to ask?

Do you have the MTPFix from Motorola installed? You need to run that fix after you load the other drivers. Sometimes it takes a bit for it to work. Also it needs to be recognized as Motorola USB Modem first.

I'm new to this thread. The tutorial provided by audio_guru worked great this morning. I was able to perform the sync and loaded about 800MB of songs on the 1GB TransFlash. When I tried to view the music via My Music on the V3M, it locked up and after a while sends me back to the initial screen. Any ideas on why this is doing this?

Can someone please explain to me in "normal" terms how I can go about charging my phone using my laptop? Someone previously answered my question, but I do not understand the terms used at all. Thanks so much!

I finally got it to work! I think it was a problem with my media player. I had it updated and everything but it took a reinstall to get my phone to finally be recognized. So for everyone still having problems, try reinstalling wmp10.

trepidationdreams : are you using a Mac laptop? i've been able to get my cell to charge on diff cables on my laptop, a Del inspiron, plugged into AC & Not AC. it might have to do with your laptop's power settings.. i have mine at the least conservative, so it doesn't try to scrimp on USB stuff. but theres some software windows settings that might help while your AC powered.

Hi, thanks for the response! No, I'm not using a Mac; I'm actually using a Dell Inspiron notebook. I'm just lost as to what cables I'm suppose to use and whatnot in order to charge the phone. Is it a separate cable that I need to buy or what? As you can tell, I'm utterly confused.

I did buy the music essentials pack for $20, what that got me was the usb cable (nothing special there), headphones and the driver disk (which apparently does not work without mtpfix.exe). I think that was a reasonable price since the headphones are decent, that's essentially what you are paying for. Then again, the driver sucks so they are selling something that is borderline non-functional. Don't install the vcast software unless you are planning on using the $15 a month service (not likely). I've been messing with this phone since I got it and of course the usb driver dropped out, then I could not get the phone to reinstall properly. I think it finally worked after I ran mtpfix several times in a row out of frustration. The driver they are supplying doesn't really work without that fix, who knows how long before they issue a better driver? I don't know, this thing is pretty new, I think verizon needs a lot more time to work out some bugs, it's just not quite ready for primetime. Nevertheless, I'm probably going to stick with this phone and hope I can flash it at some point in the future to get better functionality out of the thing. I really only got it for the mp3 player gimmick, and that works so I'm satisfied there. Feature wise it's a much much better phone than my super simple old nokia, we'll see how the battery and reception fare over time.
