Default NJ's Do Not Call List may get overturned

New Jersey’s ‘Do Not Call’ List in Jeopardy

The Federal Communication Commission is considering overturning New Jersey’s ‘Do Not Call’ law because it is more stringent than the federal program.

Currently, New Jersey’s ‘Do Not Call’ law is among the strictest in the country. As a result, many residents report almost a 100% drop in unsolicited sales calls. Now, the law is under attack from telemarketers who want the ability to call people despite the fact that they have signed up for the ‘Do Not Call’ list.

Governor Codey, who sponsored the law, is asking all New Jerseyans to visit the “Protect Do Not Call” web page and take a moment to file a comment with the FCC. Let them know if you think New Jersey’s consumer protection laws should be weakened.

Visit www.nj.gov/protectdonotcall and make your voice heard.

Default Re: NJ's Do Not Call List may get overturned

I hope it doesn't get overturned. I can't tell you how sick I am of unwanted callers in my home phone.

Let the telemarketers find another way to sell their stuff.

This is what I sent to them:

Quote:
With the resounding success of the Do-not-call program in NJ, it is quite evident that most people in NJ prefer not to be bothered by unwanted callers. There is no reason to weaken the current NJ Do Not Call laws. As a consumer, if I want to buy something, I rather go to the seller, rather than the seller come to me. Unsolicited calls are obtrusive, rude and should never be allowed in to private homes.

I honestly hope the current Do Not Call regulation does not change as it is working very well at keeping unwanted callers out of our private homes.

Thank you,
MV
