Default Montclair State U Coverage

There's a New Tower on the Football Field Grandstand.
According to Compass Coverage
it Belongs to T-Mobile.
Nextel and VZW have Campus Panels
since they're Full Bars.
Sprint is very weak per their
Street Lavel Map
(But give them Credit for Honesty).

I finally found the Place
where Cingular Street Level Maps
are LYING.
I'm only getting 2-3 Bars
in the Campus even in open Grounds
and Rebooting Phone.
Some Dorms are barely 1 Bar
Cing has to CORRECT Their Maps.

If Nextel & Verizon have campus "Panels", then Why would T-Mobile Erect an actual "TOWER", on the top of a Grandstand no less ?? It must be a massive odd looking structure & an eyesore!!

I don't know, but since there are Many Tower Spot Lights
it kind of Blends w/ the Stand. Though it's Obvious from the Parking Building.
There are like 3 Campus Buildings w/ Panels.

Cingular has been weak in this area for a long time, I remember this came up when I was at a club up there & once inside there was no reception on my phone.
Maybe Cingular is going to do something up there soon, but your right they should update their maps to show true coverage gaps like this.

I can't tell when i would be back there.
The Freshman Dorm has 4 Panels on a Side so
i'm assuming it's VZW.
Another College Hall Bldg has Nextel Equipment Room
on of the Door w/ Panel on the Roof so that's
them and Another far away Building on it's roof
could be Nextel too since the Campus uses
Nextel Tracking Device w/ their Police.

This T-Mobile Tower on the Grand Stand
was'nt there 3 years ago.

I wouldn't say they have been weak for a long time. I would say "always".

Basically, I recall back in the AT&T TDMA days Montclair was a mostly spotty area. I haven't been there in a long time and probably due to NIMBYs it has remained with little improvement.

After being there Again
The Middle Level of this T-Mobile Cell Tower
is being used as Spot Lights.
Though there's space for
another carrier.

Actually, what they need to do is to define the colors properly. After multiple tests in several areas, I've found that the deep orange areas apply to any area where you get about -98dBm or better. The next lighter orange level takes you into the -100's and the lightest orange is probably to the point where service is useless near the -110's. So again, we agree the maps are very misleading as they overstate the description of the colors.

IMO, the deep orange should be reserved only for areas where you get full bars outdoors. The mid orange to indicate you have about 3 of 5 bars (about -90dBm on most phones) and light orange when service is 1 bar (about -99dBm). That would give a much better representation of actual coverage.

This would be the best thing they could do for true coverage, and would make it closer to T-Mobiles maps.
