Default Deciding on a VZW phone after V710 loss.

My V710 was stolen and I was able to get VZW to give me new phone pricing with a NE2 discount. (I got my V710 through other means)

I didnt want to spend the money on a new V710 so I quickly picked up the new V265. Overall I like the phone, but its basic. I think it is even better than the V710 in terms of earpiece volume but of course it lacks alot of V710's great features. I am considering exchanging it though within my 2 week trial period because I dont think I got the most bang for the buck. Here's what I need help deciding on:

    Primary Choices
    • Keep V265: Adv: Have data cable already, addl chargers, familiar with software, good basic compact phone. TriMode. Cost: Free, waste $30 of $100 credit.
    • VX7000: Has most features No speaker, No Trimode. Cost: Free, if VZW will give me $30 unused credit back on V265 purchase.
    • V6100: Speaker, TriMode, Has flash where V265 doesnt, better camera. No Videos. Cost: Probably free after V265 return.

Other considerations: Samsung A670, New Kyocera (would cost $50).

I would really appreciate any recommendations.

Great to see you are here silverado!
    I still love your icon.

The Kyocera Koi what I understand has mixed to poor reviews on reception like most phones from Kyocera. Other then that a great phone.

If you can get a audiovox 9900 that might be a good choice if you could get one.

Samsung SCH-A670 I think might be the best choice. If you want to spend some cash. My roomate that has Verizonicon has that one and loves it. When he is home in Delta, UT the network is not that great and his phone does better than his last one.

I don't know. He is studying right now and it is do not disturb unless it is important. That was probably not important. I will get back with you later.

Thanks. Taz thanks you. Maybe soon I'll bring back Yosemite Sam. Anyway, so you think the A670 and the 9900 are better than the LGs? Do you have a pref? Is VZW still selling the 9900? Its not on their website..

Audiovox cancelled it after making several thousand of them I wrote an email to findout why it was, my guess is durablity. Drop it a few times and its no good. So if you are a person who dropps his phone alot then that would not be a phone you would want.

Verizon Wirelessicon Midwest still has several Ones left.

Lucky Goldstar 7000 from people on campus that have them like them. Can't say that much about 6100 Tony E when he comes on, he can drop you a line since he is the Lucky Goldstar AKA LG expert.

7000s are now selling in with black faceplate instead of blue.

So now I am between keeping my V265 or trying to exchange for VX-7000 or A670. As a phone the V265 works great, screen is small and display is poor and its no frills compared to the phones that are out there. My motivation for switching is that the VX-7000 is a higher end phone and I dont think it will cost me more.

I think having tri-mode and spekerphone is really important, especially if your driving. This is my comparison of the V265 and VX6100 (I have both phones and both are great, just a matter of preference):

I have both and like each of them. They both have pluses and minuses.

Pros: VX6100-Great color screen (really nice)
    Good voice quality
    Easy to navigate
Easy to force calls and get into service menu.
*Speakerphone (Addition over VX6000) It has one.
    Tri-mode
Good camera (for the 640x480 resolution) with flash.
    Good ringtones
    Build quality
    T9
batteryicon life is better than expected.

    Cons:VX6100
RF is decent, not bad.(RX -65 to -75 and -96 in fringe areas and able to make calls.)
*Speakerphone (muffled/distorted and not very clear but loud).
Volume bug (I have not experienced it,though)

Pros: V265 RF, RF and RF ....great reception
    Good call/voice clarity.
Speakerphone. Nice tone, crystal clear. (could be a tad louder).
    Easy to navigate
    loud ringers and reminders.
    Build quality
    Battery life (average).

    Cons: V265
Camera is worthless (oh well, I'll use my Canon A70 anyway)
Screen is small (does not really bother me)
    Itap...T9 is better.

    Hope this helps.

The Audiovox 9900/Toshiba 4050 was sold in the Pacific rim area for over a year before VZW and Sprint picked it up. Toshiba built many thousands of them, but is moving to new models (as do most manufacturers).

The 9900/4050 is still near the top of available phones for those who want performance but don't need the bluetooth functions. It's camera outperfoms 99% of the camera phones now available, and it's inside display tops just about everyone else.

As far as dropping it, any cellphone today can be damaged this way, as they are all made as cheaply as possible because of the pricing/competition. Remember, the average planned life of a cellphone (according to industry) is about 18 months.

It's a great phone, as are others, and performs like a V710 except for the BT.

You can still get it from VZW, but you have to ask them to order it from the warehouse. Since most stores want to sell the stock they have you might get some pressure from the CSR to buy a different model.

One thing that hold me back from getting Audiovox 9900 is that I heard it is very difficult to pc sync. Bitpim supposedly works with LGs.

What do people think about the VX7000 compared to the 6100?

I have the a670 and have been happy with it, I also like the vx7000, as long as you like the size of it.

Yea, it's true about Bitpim. However, Audiovox Asura software can be had from the net which will do the PRLs and ERIs, and most address book sync proggies like Datasync and Snapsync support the 9900/4050.

Since I only sync once a month or so, it's not a problem for me.

Friend of mine has the A670 and absolutely loves it. Best phone he's had so far but that's not saying much since his former phones were the Moto T720 and Samsung A310.

I'll elaborate...I love the a670 and I had the Motorola v60i (another great phone for its time!) before the a670...
