Cingular Gets Ready for Summer on Cape Cod
New Cingular Cell Sites Enhance Network Coverage as Part of $160 Million Investment Plan
WESTWOOD, Mass., May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless customers now have more cell coverage on Cape Cod and the Islands. As a result of the merger of Cingular Wireless and AT&T
Wireless, customers now have access to 68 cell sites on the Cape. Cingular announced today that the company has completed the combination of the two networks and added two new cell sites, significantly enhancing coverage in advance of the Cape's busy summer travel season.
"One of the largest areas of improvement will be along Routes 6 and 6A, which we know are key roads for Cape drivers. Enhancing our wireless experience on the Cape before Memorial Day weekend was a top priority for us," said Steve Krom, Vice President and General Manager for Cingular Wireless in New England. "The upgrades we've made to our network are significant and we will continue investing in the state to ensure our customers have the best service possible. In fact, we have over 50 new cell sites planned for Massachusetts this year alone."
While improvements will be apparent to Cingular customers all over the Cape and Islands, the communities of Barnstable, Dennis and Brewster will see the most benefit from the combination of Cingular's network and the former AT&T
Wireless network.
In addition to these enhancements Cingular has turned on a new cell site on Martha's Vineyard in West Tisbury on Old Courthouse Road, bringing better service to the Town Hall area as well as nearby Lambert's Cove beach. Another new site was also added in Falmouth to improve in-building coverage at Falmouth Hospital.
Last year Cingular invested more than $180 million to enhance its network in Massachusetts, with an additional $160 million planned in 2006.- 3 Billion GSM Users by 2009.

Re: 68 cell sites on the Cape, MA MIDDLEBORO, MA — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents in Plymouth County, Verizon Wireless
, owner and operator of the nation’s most reliable wireless network, has expanded its network with a new cell site. The new site increases coverage and capacity along Route 44 between I-495 and Carver in Middleboro, Massachusetts.
This network expansion is part of the company’s aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year (more than $1 billion every 90 days), including well over $300 million in New England in 2005 alone, to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless
voice and data services. Verizon Wireless
has invested $30 billion—on average $5 billion a year—into its national wireless network over the past six years as part of its commitment to offer customers the most reliable service available, including wireless data services such as Picture Messaging, TXT Messaging, and the company’s exclusive V CAST service. V CAST brings TV, music and other multimedia services to wireless phones over Verizon Wireless’ high-speed BroadbandAccess network. BroadbandAccess offers customers the nation's largest high-speed wireless broadband network, operating at average speeds between 400 kbps - 700 kbps.
Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the first quarter of 2006 as the company added 1.7 million net new customers. Verizon Wireless is the leader in wireless customer loyalty. In the first quarter of 2006, the company posted a record-breaking low customer turnover rate of 1.18%, well below the rate reported by the other major wireless carriers.
The company’s ‘most reliable network’ reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspired the “can you hear me now” national advertising campaign. These engineers make more than 300,000 call tests monthly on Verizon Wireless’ and other national carriers’ networks while traveling over 100,000 miles a month in specially equipped, company-owned test vehicles.

, owner and operator of the nation’s most reliable wireless network, has expanded its network with a new cell site. The new site increases coverage and capacity along Route 105 in Rochester.
This network expansion is part of the company’s aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year (more than $1 billion every 90 days), including well over $300 million in New England in 2005 alone, to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless

Re: 68 cell sites on the Cape, MA WOBURN, MA — With baseball’s opening day right around the corner, New England baseball fans headed to Fenway Park can rely on the Verizon Wireless
network to talk and TXT to friends and family to share in the excitement of game day.
Since its launch six years ago, Verizon Wireless
has invested $30 billion—on average $5 billion every year—to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new capabilities. More than $300 million alone of this investment was spent in New England last year to maintain and enhance the network.
Verizon Wireless
also deploys a coast-to-coast fleet of test vehicles managed by Verizon Wireless engineers who continuously test the network and identify areas for improvement. The engineers conduct more than four million calls annually on the Verizon Wireless network and other national wireless carriers’ networks while traveling more than one million miles across the nation. In New England, test teams travel thousands of miles across the six-state region each year.
These ongoing network enhancements improve Verizon Wireless' digital capacity in and around Fenway Park, enabling more customers heading to the games to use their wireless phones concurrently. The improvements also enable New England baseball fans to experience fewer dropped calls and clearer reception while talking on their wireless phones, send TXT and Picture Messages, view streaming video or download games and ring tones before, during and after the games.
For more information on Verizon Wireless, please visit www.verizonwireless.com. To set up an interview or ride-along test drive with a Verizon Wireless test man or woman, please contact Wendy Bulawa at 617.851.3426.

Re: 68 cell sites on the Cape, MA At least the Cingular press releases aren't just for every individual site they bring online. Besides, after reading what is happening everywhere else in the country, it is good to know when they get around to my state.
P.S. - Jones, When you first joined WA, weren't you with Verizon
, and used to post their press releases, before changing to Cingular?

My letter outlined two specific locations, including one that is immediately off a major interstate. To date, these areas are still the same as they were.
T-Mobile

Re: 68 cell sites on the Cape, MA That's funny, it seems like forever that us "VZW" users just sat around silent as "passionate" Jones continually posts these endless PR's, over & over, in their full entirety, across every forum, East , West, North, South Tech, ect... (aside from posting/replying unrelated Cing info in every other person's thread),...

Re: 68 cell sites on the Cape, MA Lets just make a sub forum for Jones and call it "My useless Cingular press releases so i can drive up my post count". This way it won't clutter up the main page.

Re: 68 cell sites on the Cape, MA The integration completion of ATT and Cingular in the Dennis/Brewster area is good news indeed. That and the nearby area of Chatham was good, but spotty in some places. A few years back, I asked a local what was the best local carrier and it was ATT. So the merger should be great. Before that, I had to use an external antenna at my rental house to get good service. I will be curious to see the difference now.
