I was going to post this on Howard fourms, since they have a dedicated verizon forum, but im afraid of cellmanXX responding. I use a VX1 and have alot of trouble sending text messages. Anyone else notice this? At least half the time I get either "network problem" or "message failed." Is it my phone or does verizon in general have problems with text messaging? I can recieve them without any problems.

I get these message failures occasionally. I assume it's the network and not your phone. Strange thing is I sometimes get an "X" next to my message meaning it failed to send, but it actually goes out anyway.

If you go out and get the A530 you won't have any text messaging problems!!! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] I get the message failed sometimes when my message actually goes through and other times I get a successful notice and the person I send the message to never gets it. I think it is a network issue, not your phone.

hmmm...i thought i was the only one with this problem?? maybe not enough sufficient network capacity?? i have a motorola t720 on verizons network and FREQUENTLY encounter this problem when sending text messages..........i average about 600-800 SMS a month (it's free with the, dare i say, *employee plan*- lol- reference thread in my signature).....................i've gotten used to it...i figured it was the building i was in, normally all universities have mediocre reception in the buildings for some odd reason. i do get service unlike my friend's at&t motorola v60t, but its just OK...anyways, i normally get "unable to send message. would you like to retry?" [yes] [no] or something of that sort...when i hit [yes] it takes me back to the inbox menu where i check the outbox message i sent that failed...i do see the infamous "X" next to the message but when i select it, and then on [details] it says "sending in progress" and then eventually it will say "message sent" usually after i pull up my antenna... anyways, sometimes i wouldn't receive text messages at all so, per the (800) 308-DATA, data tech support line, after they couldnt figure it out and troubleshooted it we came upon this resolution: try powering cycling the phone for at least 15 seconds when you can, maybe nightly or every other just so your lcd screen doesnt burn out (im sure everyone has encountered a frozen or BLACK t720 screen one time or another)... another thing is to go into your web browser feature (even if you dont subscribe to the service) and once you see "openwave...whatever whatever" image quickly press the middle [=] (menu) key...this they told me clears out the browsers temporary files cache and for some reason after that's done...i get an influx of SMS that havent been received or read for days!! weird...but oh well................ basically i find t720's to not be so defective as everyone in the stores tech support lines claim they are, it's just not a "perfect" phone but rather fragile when it comes to software and color lcd screen...but you all probably knew this by now..............................peace all |
