Ok if I switch my plan 8 months in my 12 month contract. (new one year contract) - Do I have to wait 10 months again to get an equipment upgrade or do they let me wait that 2 months in my old contract and then make the 10 month wait kick in? - Can i get a new phone at promotional price when i switch my plan? - Can i change to a new plan and continue with my old contract or do i have to sign a new contract? Anything else i should knwo about changing plans midway threw my old contract? Thanks |

1. If you change your plan, mid contract of the previous plan....most companies require that you start a year contract over again. The new plan is obviously some sort of a promotional rate if its offering a better selection then your original. If its worse, like Sprints new plans are...then its not a promotional, however, most likely, you will be required to start a new contract. Not all companies were or are like this, but I dont know who isnt. 2. When you start a new contract, the old one becomes null and void. Everything starts new and fresh. Your plan is new, your minutes are new, and all promotions from the last plan are forfeited. Also, this new plan, may or may not have an equiptment upgrade. Sprint has Technology Assurance, if you are on a 2 year plan. Every two years you get a credit of $100 or so, give or take, for a new phone. If you change plans, you need to make sure you get back on a 2 year plan, and unfortunately, it will start over from the next billing cycle. 3. Most places will not give out a promotional phone if you change plans, because they already HAVE you as a customer. Most companies, will only do promotional phone prices to people who arent customers, so that way, they can lure them in. The only way to get a promotional phone again, is to either end contract completely, pay out termination (or move to a non covered area, then amazingly move back in a month and re-start services), or start a new line of service. With every NEW line of service, your more then likely able to get what you want, at a rate you want. *SIDE NOTE* If you want a promotional phone, start a new contract with the new plan you want. If you have 2 more months on your old plan, bite the bullet, and pay the last 2 months, when your contract is up, cancel that one, and go with the new one you had for 2 months previously. Keep in mind, that not everyone can do this. 4. As I think I mentioned above. You can sign to a new contract, and keep the old one, but it has to be on a new line of service, not the same one as before. Meaning your new contract, and phone will have a new phone number. You would continue to pay for BOTH contracts for the time being till the first one ran out, and you canceled. But you cant have 2 contracts going at the same time on the same account, and think that they will let you slide by on the first one. Its no where near that nice in wireless worlds. Hope that this helped you out a lot. This comment was strictly based on the knowledge that I have experienced, some of the information might be out of date, or even carrier selective. Many things have changed in the wireless world, since I was with Cell ONE, and ATT, and Verizon. They may or may not offer, or honor any of the mentioned above. | |
