I was wondering, If I get another phone like off eBay or somewhere else .. can I just go to Verizon to activate it so it has my number or can I do it over the phone? Also, is there any crucial information I need? |

Well, you have to make sure of a few things: a) that you're using the same provider as the phone being sold. Either that or that the phone is unlocked. b) if your phone has a sim card(GSM), then you can just put htat into the new phone and you don't even have to do anything. If not, i think there is some procedure that involves calling up and having them change the # of the phone they have for you (it's the model # and a specific # inside the phone). I'm not 100% sure about this second part but I'm sure someone will post and clear this up Almost forgot, make sure that you the new phoen is using the same technology. Don't buy a GSM phone for Verizon for instance or even a TDMA for them.

For Verizon, you will need to get a tri-mode digital CDMA phone that is either unlocked or Verizon branded. You will have to either call them to switch the phones or visit one of their stores.

With Verizon, I picked up an Audiovox 9000 off Ebay. I called their customer service and gave them the ESN number over the phone. The Rep told me to wait about 10 minutes, then dial *228-send. Voila, the phone number was transferred in as well as the latest PRL. Suliman |
