do the text messages that tmobile sends you as a voicemail alert count against your available messages? i find it kind of annoying to get a "missed call" and a text message saying "you have new voicemail, dial 123 to retrieve it". is there away to get a VM notification without it being a text message that you have to delete everytime?

No, you can't do anything about receiving a text message fora VM indicator. However, they do not count against your allotment.
