Default Changing Services--changing phones

I have the Motorola v60c. I currently am with Verizon but want to switch services and everyone sells this phone but b/c it's Verizon's phone w/it's logo on it, I have to buy a new phone. First off, I don't think that's fair and is that legal? Secondly, is there a way I could get away with it (as in could I still use that phone w/another service provider)? If not, can someone tell me what my best options are? Thanks in advance.

you have to buy a new phone because verizon uses cdma, and your new provider, im assuming cingular, uses tdma. everyone does use a v60 phone, but there are different models for different networks - cdma, tdma, and i think gsm

you can try using the phone with the new provider, but it wont work because its not the same technology
