Default Thinking about switching over 2 sprint, need advice

After it all adds up, I am seriously thinking about switching over to Sprint. I decided to go with Verizonicon in the first place because of all the negative things I've heard about Sprint, but I've slowly switched my mind. First, their phones are light years ahead of Verizonicon's upcoming A530 and 4400 (although these are nice looking phones, Sprints are much farther ahead of them). Then came Sprint's new 30$ plans, which really attracted me, given that they are giving me the exact same plan I have with Verizonicon for 5$ less (a big plus for a teenage on a tight budget). To top things off, Sprint's service isn't nearly as bad as it's made out to seem. A good friend of mine has Sprint service. I was talking to her yesterday and when I finished talking, I took a glance at the caller ID and was shocked to see she had been calling me from her cell phone. The call sounded crystal clear. I believed, throught the the whole hour conversation, that she had been calling me from a landline. I've talked to her when she's both here in the city (New York) and when she's Upstate (around Ithaca) and Sprint's service seems to be grewat in both. So now I have two questions for you guys. 1.) what do you guys think about service in new york. It sounds great for my friend, but she has a Sanyo 5150. I'm a bit more interested in the service with an N400 or A530. 2.) Does Sprint have prepay plans like Verizon's Freeup? I'm interested in either the 30$ plan or a prepay, and I was wondering how their prepay plans are. Thanx for everything guys, and sorry I rambled on for so long.

dont listen to Verizonicon users that like the bash Sprint. I have had Sprinticon for 4 years now, and i couldnt be happier. If you are in New york city, then you will have no problems with Sprinticon. sprints phones and plans are definitely better than verizons. But in all honesty, they may have a little better coverage in certain areas. But on that same note, there are spots that sprint covers whereas Verizonicon doesnt. So it all depends on where you are and where you go. Try it out. you have nothing to lose.

But if you decide to get a samsung, then please dont come back to these forums a few weeks later and complain about sprint. Because choosing the right phone on sprint is crucial. If you want to go for the samsung awesome style, then be prepared to sacrifice a little reception in the process. Your best bet is still with the sanyos. Make sure you ask about all of the new customer promotions that sprint is offering. Example: 2yr contract - free unlimited spcs to spcs calling, free phones, If you use vision, 3 months free. etc etc.

    Goodluck!

The only place so far that my Verizonicon phone did not work is on top of a volcano on Maui.

When picking a cell service, it's most important to go with who has the best coverage rather than who has the prettiest phones.

I recall recently reading a Wall Street Journal Article where they had many positive things to say about Sprint PCS, too. They seem to be a pretty reliable news source.
