Default Contract ending soon...can i leach free minutes if i plan to sign up again?

Hey guys...new to this forum so wtup every1. My verizon contract is ending soon, and most likely sign up again w/ a family share plan the $35+20 w/ 2 lg 510 for ($75). But since its ending soon, if i call up the csr or cancellation dept can i talk them into giving me more min/freebies by continuing my contract?
Haven't decided to keep verizon or switch to cingular bc they offer more peak minutes for a similar price and the phones are so much cooler.
im in the nj/ny area. Thanks for your help.

I agree with Anon

Most companies will try to kiss your butt to keep you; in the end you have to ask yourself do you really want to go another year with them for just a few more minutes or go with another company offering you more for your buck! Also, after they get you to stay, the butt kissing stops!

Not everyone will try to keep you. My wife and I wanted to change to a shared plan under AT&T Wireless. We each had a 400 minute plan but our peak minutes rarely exceded 300 minutes a month combined. So we wanted the 500 minute Family plan. The only problem is we wanted free long distance and some type of Night and Weekend option included. They would give us the long distance and weekends but they would not budge on the nights. Their excuse was they could not keep track of billing for each line which I don't understand because Verizon can. We switched to a Verzion family plan.

I had this experience with AT&T several years ago. My contract expired, and as AT&T does regularly, my bill automatically jumped because several of my promotions "expired." When I called them they would offer only the plans that were available to new customers. I cancelled.

Make sure you take advantage of the new contract new phone deal. Dont just re-sign up over the phone with a ccr. If you do at least try and work in a new phone cuz they will lock you into another contract and no one will sell you a phone at the disconted price that you get for a new activation and the price difference is pretty steap. Like $100-$150 difference.
