    Default Monsey,NY (Rockland County)

Cingular/TMobile and AT&Ticon both do not have a very good network buildout here...

I am here visiting with a Cingular GSM phone (using TMobile's towers)

and my phone hardly works here, (I am at my brothers house now, and my phone is fully dead within 2 square miles... and I am right off Rt. 306 not far from Rt. 59)

    is AT&Ticon adding anything here???

is there any other local GSM carrier?? (or a carrier that is going GSM..)

[on a side note, does anybody know when exactly AT&Ticon's towers will be opened up to Cingular users in the NYC market]

AT&T is your "other" option right now for GSM, & they may possibly have a cell site close enough to the area you mention, on 800Mhz, that would do a better job there.
You would need a GSM phone that operates at Both 800 & 1900 to take full advantage (not 900 or 1800).
Board rumors are anywhere from 30 days to 6 months for joint cing/att roaming in this area.....
