I don't like the "Network" plans. Would like to call anyone from anywhere with no roaming or network requirements. Anything besides the Single National Rate from Verizon? Thanks!

T-Mobile I think.. AT&T with Digital One Rate plan is good too. Sprint Free and Clear plans have great coverage too |

No, not T-Mobile. It's GSM only with them. Cingular Nation and AT&T Digital One Rate are the other national plans. Prices are comparable among all 3 carriers. |

sprints standard plans (free and clear) are the easiest to understand. Use your phone where ever you can pick up a sprint signal. Call from anywhere to anywhere. Its that simple. They do have nationwide local plans too, but they dont advertise those very much. |

I believe this poster is asking for a plan that covers you on any network, not just a carrier's preferred network. I agree that Sprint has a nice network for urban/suburban calling, but I suspect that this poster (another "Anonymous) wants a true National plan.

AT&T Wireless has an excellent "One Rate" Plan available for straight TDMA and also for Multi-Band (Let's pretend and call it GAIT).

Cingular Nation or AT&T One Rate are the only choices. Beware these plans don't have any promotional offers or off-peak minutes and are pricey. However, if this is what you want, this is where you'll find it. Why not T-Mobile or Nextel? Because coverage is not exactly national. Why not Sprint? Because the poster said he "Would like to call anyone from anywhere with no roaming or network requirements." Why not Verizon? Because the poster said anything but Verizon.

Jack, the poster specifically requested anything besides Verizon SingleRate, which bobolito reiterated. BTW, it is true that Cingular still has N/W on Nation plans in upstate New York. Rumor is that some nice CS people will give the promo mins to people in other markets too...at least some did shortly after Cingular dropped the promo mins. Note that we are talking about Cingular Nation in TDMA markets only (every Cingular market except NYC, West Coast, and the Carolinas).

Alltel's Total Freedom would be another true national plan. They actually do offer n+w minutes within a local area. For instance, within the carolinas customers get 3500 night and weekend minutes. Anything out of the carolinas uses anytime minutes though.

Nextel is a good choice. Right now they are running some really good promo's right now which includes free long distance. That means call anywhere from anywhere. I was paying $100 for that with Verizon but with Nextel I'm paying only $80 with free nights and weekends and direct connect included. (900 minute optimizer plan) Tina |
