Default soft vs hard handoff

What's your experience with different carriers as far as carrying on a conversation while driving and the rate of getting dropped or getting a glitch when moving from tower to tower. I understand Sprint and Verizon uses CDMA which they claim is a soft handoff, which means you can be talking to 3 to 4 towers at a time. Whereas TDMA and GSM uses a hard handoff which is not as good supposedly because you talk to one tower at a time and must do a hard switch over. In real life does it really make a difference?

Nope. Most GSM and TDMA hand-offs (hand-overs for GSM buffs) are imperceptible in well engineered systems.

Yes, I get more dropped call in my CDMA phone than my GSM phone.
