My phone always worked perfect. Then about two weeks ago it started screwing up. I'd say about half my calls dont ring to my phone, so i dont even get the missed call. I wouldnt even get a voicemail notification. Id have to randomly check my voicemail. My calendar reminders stopped beeping too. I went to the tech, and he said its all fixed. The reminders work, and the voicemail notification works now, but half of my calls still dont ring, and i just get voicemails from ppl....frustrating...anyone know why this could be? old phone? ive had it for almost 2 years...i dont see why that would cause any problems...the phone has good service everywhere, just some work some dont... |

Do you know any other Cingular users in your area? If they are having similar problems, it could be network congestion.

rockon83, you said it yourself, the phone is almost 2 years old. I don't think 8260's are supposed to last that long.

That was the reason I canceled my SprintPCS service. The phone wouldn't even ring once, but would appear to the caller like I'm ingoring them. Happend to about 10-20% of calls depending on the area and time of the day, and happends to every SprintPCS customer I know. I complained to SprintPCS a couple of times, but they would always act like they have never heard of this problem before [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]. Switched to AT&T and know for sure it happend to me a couple of times when the signal was very low, but a couple of times in about 18 month.

I know someone in NYC suffering from that same exact problem with SPCS. I was thinking it was the phone but now I see he's not alone. Also, in other occasions I've noticed how sometimes, if I call his phone, I can hear 3 or 4 rings in my end before his phone actually begins to ring. Mine always begins ringing when the caller hears the second ring.

I haven't had this happen to me here in the LA area in a while. It has happened in the past though but not too often. I think any carrier and network is bound to have these issues every now and then.

This is used to be a common problem in Central NY, with Verizon. Thankfully, Verizon kept passing the problem up the chain of command, and I eventually got a phone call from their director of regional operations (!), asking me to call him if this ocurred again. Keep after your provider, perhaps they will fix it.

I am sure Sprint will get to it as this is not a new problem. New Yorkers using Sprint know they've been having capacity issues.

rockon23, It could well be the phone. Also check with your provider to see if they have had any update on their system lately because that could also interfere with the phone. Something else that you want to check it is that if you have a phone with an antenna if the antenna is beat-up or if it is an antenna which is supposed to be steady and it is turning around.
