    Default Need New Prepaid

Hi all, due to the fact that my Nokia 252c has a constant "no service" message on it, it is time for a new phone. First question, will this new phone still get the message or will everything be OK. I live in upstate NY, 30 miles south of Syracuse. I would like to keep with TracFoneicon (convenience). Any idea which phone would work best here. Area code 607, zip 13077...be kind if this is beneath the usual talks here, I'm a newbie. Someone told me nokia 1221 or motorola 120? Thanks all

Go to TracFoneicon's web site, click Phone Info, then Price & Buy for any of the phones pictured. You will then be prompted to enter your zip code, the site will verify the city and state for that zip code. The next page will display the phones available in your area.

If the Nokia 1100 is available, it's a better choice. It is a GSM phone, where the 1221 is TDMA. Cingular provides their service in my area and the 1100 only recently became available in my area.

    With the 1100:

    • Only 1 unit of time is charged per minute (including roaming).
    • Incoming text messages are free.
    • Outgoing text messages are 0.3 units each.

With their other phones (other than the Nokia 1100):

    • 2 units are charged per minute when roaming.
    • Both incoming and outgoing text messages are 0.5 units each.

If you can get Alltel, that would be a good plan. They are $0.15/min anytime, no contract, no monthly fees.

    Hello
I'm partial to the T-Mobileicon to Go prepaid as it's been a great plan for me.
You can buy the 100 dollar card, and it gives you 1000 minutes over a course of a years time, or you can start out like I did. I bought the Nokia 6010 phone package from Walmarticon for 35.00 and it came with 15.00 dollars of time, every 90 days I added 25 until I went over 100 and am now gold rewards member, so my time is good until May of next year and I will only need to add time when I need it.
    here's the Walmarticon link.

and here's a link to T-Mobileicon's prepaid site so you can read about all the things you get with the service, etc.

I second the reccomendation for alltel prepaid. 15 cents a minute, but they have two other options if you talk a lot, like day-by-day or monthly which makes it even cheaper. The minutes do not expire like with TracFoneicon if you don't refill them. They do not have those particular phones available to buy new, but i believe there cheapest phone the Kyocera Kx1 soho is very good for 14.99. But they have many others as well. If you don't want to pay for a new phone you can call them and check see if they can activate your other phone onto their network.

Alltel does not offer service in New York state. I don't know whether that analog TracFoneicon was using Verizonicon or Cingular, but the best bets for prepaid in that area would be TracFone (GSM on Cingular and Partners), or PagePlus (uses Verizonicon's network).

The U prepaid map has New York covered so I figured it did. It uses verizons towers there I believe. Now if you tried to order it and they couldn't give you a number then that would be a problem.....
