I would like to add a repeater for my home in the mountains of VT - currently we have 3 cell phones all on cellular one - we have tried Verizon and others but only Cell one has consistant signal at our location. From what I have read, it appears that Cell one is on Carrier A, 800MHZ and runs Analog/Digital as available and that it is a TDMA system? I would appreciate if anyone could confirm... I have seen repeaters available for between 600-1400 or more and some that have WLL home based as options which I would also be interested in as well. Thoughts? Thanks much.... Steve |

Steve >> A repeater will only help if there is a useable signal oudoors at street level, unless you use a Yagi aimed at a particular site. The former agency I used to work for installed a db products that covered the 800-894MHz band and was mainly to improve 800MHz cellular and public safety radios inside an EMP hardened Federal facility. It cost us almost 5 grand when you added the cost of the repeater, feedline and antenna system. It worked well. If you have no street level signal at all, a repeater can't do anything but amplify what goes into it. Yes, you can get preamps and get very elaborate, but the cost will well exceed what you are trying to do. Looks like Ma Bell POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) may be the only affordable option for you. Don't know about Cell one's topology in your area, definately 800, but they operate CDMA IS-95 in some markets. |

You do realize this is NOT a do it yourself project.... Assuming that it works in your location at all. You can buy an awful lot of wireline service for what this costs.... http://www.antenna.com/repeaters/cellkit.html |
