Hey everyone. As the title says, I'd like to know if the Samsung SGH- R220 is usable with any network in NY State Long Island area. Thanks in advance.

Nope, it won't. It runs on GSM 900 and 1800, while all GSM in the US is on 1900. Sorry.

The Samsung R225 is available with Voicestream as of last Friday: Samsung R225 - Voicestream Wireless. It is a dual-mode 900/1900Mhz GSM phone. I checked the Samsung website, and it's the same phone, just made for U.S. use. It has a nice blue screen by the way. Voicestream has it on their website for $89.99.

Here is the Voicestream Wireless New York State Area Map. Voicestream coverage is available in Long Island, New York.
