Migrating to GSM and want some opinions on some phones... I wondering how people's experiences have been with the Siemens S56, the Nokia 3595, and the Sony Ericsson t226. Which would anyone recomend above the other? I've read a lot of bad things about the 3595 and good things about the s56. I like these little non-flip phones, what do you think?

I have a 3595 as a spare phone and it's a very good phone, My main phone is a 6800 which i love, since i do a lot of text messaging. I have heard the T226 is also a decent phone but you would be better with the Nokia's. The keypads on the SE T-series are small, and even though the keypad looks funny on the 3595 it is easy to use.

The Nokia 3595 is a great phone, just like the rest of the Nokia line. I have found the RF to be better on the Nokia than on the SE phones. In my opinion.

Nokia tends to outperform SE when it comes to RF. It all comes down to which phone meets your expectations and how it performs in your area where you'd use it the most.

| S56 is a cool little phone too, Infrared, bluetooth capability, easy to navigate for the not so techno gadget inclined. None of that "Nokia Buzz" in the rcvr audio either. Not sure how the 3595 does in that regard but I've seen many low end Nokia GSM phones with that familiar "Nokia Buzz". I'm sure anyone that has used one is familiar with it. Really not too annoying as ya can usually only hear it when noone's talkin. And if that's the case ya wouldn't be using it... right?? |

I have a Nokia 3595 and I must say its a pretty good phone. I don't like the SE T226 it has a pretty poor screen on it and it's just shaped oddly to me. After playing with one for a few minutes I decided against it. If it's between those 3 phones for you I'd go with the Nokia 3595.

Well I originally liked the s56 for the bluetooth and infrared capabilities but have read so many more good things about the 3595... whosurbud, how is the ringer volume on the s56? I heard it is very poor since it uses the earpiece...

The ringer volume on the s56 isn't as loud as the 3595. It's loud enough for most, just don't get a pouch for it. If you put it in your pocket make sure you have it set to vibrate. Also the earpiece volume on the 3595 is much louder then the s56, but IMHO the 3595 is the loudest of any GSM phone.

I tried the S56 for a day. To be blunt it SUCKED. The call quality was poor, the menu system was difficult to navigate. The phone stinks. I'll stick with my v400. whoo hoo.

i have an s56 and although i know of alot of people with complaints about it, i love mine. ringer volume is good and loud, and the voice quality has been excellent. i also like it for the bluetooth and java. i would say my biggest two complaints are that the screen resolution isn't so hot (it's really bad actually) and it would be nice if it had a bit more memory for storing pictures and java applications. my roommate has a sony ericsson t616 (we are both with attws) and it seems that i get better reception than he does 9 times out of 10. it's a small, light phone and the battery life is great, so i'd definitely recommend it, especially if you aren't a nokia fan (i'm not). good luck!

Hi All; Similar questions: do larger phones with built-in antennas (as opposed to smaller phones with built-in antennas) have better reception? Do phones with little antennas that you pull out have better reception than phones with built-in antennas? Thanks Alex |
