I am trying to get a graphic I created on my computer to my phone so I can use it as a background. I have one of the new Motorola V400 Phones that is MMS Capable. I can get graphics from the Cingular site without difficulty. I have tried e-mailing to my phone and various other methods. Can anyone give me a little guidance? Help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Are you emailing them to your MMS email address or to your SMS email address?

You may want to check out 3gupload.com. The site has a "locker" which you can store wallpapers, ringtones, & games. Then access them from your phone using there wap address. The do pester you to donate, but you don't have to.

I've read posts from people claiming that they just attach the image to a message and email it to their MMS address. However, what you can do is what budney advised. Visit 3Gupload.com and you can upload the image there from your computer and then download it to your phone using the WAP browser in your phone.

I tried sending to my mms address again and had success. The one difference between the first time I I tried it and now was that I put "Multimedia message" in the subject line. Thanks for all your help.

I'd be curious to know how did you figure out that you needed to enter "Multimedia message" in the subject line.

Bobolito, I used the trail and error method. From what I can tell two things are required 1. "Multimedia message" in the subject field 2. at least one word of text in the body of the document. The images I was sending were 176 x 220 jpg. __________________________________________________ ____________________ When I tried to send it any other way it would get kicked back to email on my pc as: The original message was received at Fri, 23 Jan 2004 18:00:46 -0600 (CST) from nngate1.mycingular.com [66.209.13.131] ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <xxxxxxxxxx@mms.mycingular.com> (reason: 552 5.7.1 Message cannot be processed as request) ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to localhost: >>> DATA <<< 552 5.7.1 Message cannot be processed as request 554 5.0.0 Service unavailable __________________________________________________ _____________ xxxxxxxxx above is where your cell number would be. I also tried to send an mp3 file about 300k in size encoded at 64/kbps. It was convted to about 35k in size playing at 8/kbps and sounded horrible. I'll let you know if i figure anything else out. Hope this helps everyone. |
