Default phone with good reception in Malden,MA?

Hi,
My new apartment is located right by the cliff. well, they maybe cut the mountain and built the building.. anyway I'm currently using an att phone which is not working at all in my room. well, outside is ok.
so I decided to change the carrier to Verizon and researching it now because my freind's phone worked inside.

I wonder just changing the plan to Verizon will help. or should I get a really good phone with good reception?
I'm thinking of getting motorola c333,cheaper one. but I doubt it would work well.

any help?

i think the c333 is an all digital phone...ask you friend if he uses Analog in the area you live(does an A ever appear on his screen)....if he uses analog then you might want to also consider getting a tri-mode phone(digital and analog)... in anycase verizon has a 14 day trial period use it to see if verizon works for you where you need it..

I think it should help I thought ATT was 1900Mhz in that area, and Verizon is 850Mhz all things being equal Verizon will have better penetration into your building. This is dependent on how far away the tower is from where you live. Verizon has good coverage in MA, I have not been to Malden, but I have used a great deal from RI north to Maine and have had good coverage, had great coverage all around Boston also.

AT&T or Verizon is a good choice for provider. The question is what kind of service do you currently have with AT&T, GSM or TDMA? If you have GSM and you are thinking getting the C333 (GSM only) you are not improving your chances of getting better signal inside your apartment. You should invite some friends over with their phones and see who gets a good signal. Base you decision on facts and not on gut feeling.

VZW'S coverage of your area should be great, because it's pretty darn good in much more rural areas. Why not check out phones from LG and Samsung. They seem to be worth the extra money . You can get good deals with a new activation from circuit city. I just picked up a LG vx 6000 and so far it has been great.

I got a LG VX4400 on Verizon last week (in Rhode Island). So far coverage is great in all the previous dead spots I had with Cingular. Only missing coverage so far is at work :-(

I'm now looking at trying Cingular again with a Nokia 6340i to see if GSM+TDMA gives me more complete coverage. I hate to do it because the VX4400 is a really nice phone....
