I wondered if anyone here had any more details than the NY Times on Cingular's upcoming Fast Forward cradle device. http://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/11/te...f8373b10a3dcb0 I wonder if other providers will consider this type of service in the future. The cradle is a simple way of administering it, but obviously many people like myself would be competent enough and more than willing to navigate phone menus to have this feature available with providers like Verizon. I'd love to have this way of saving my anytime minutes by directing incoming calls to my landline when I am home. So many of my friends just dial my cell no matter what. |

thats nice ! however i have verizon. a superior company by far. There is no iffy coverage and i have plenty of minutes so i wont need it. However the idea is a great idea ! cant us verizon people forward our calls to home just by hitting *70 or something ?

yeah there is a per min rate depending on carrier, usually like 15 cents. the cradle includes unlimited call forawrding but a carrier could include unlimited forwarding without the cradle..

Gee! any wireless carrier can do that. Cingular's introduction of this (with the free forwarding for SBC land customers) is a loaned idea from what has been available to GSM users for some time. Nokia has had a product like this one in the Euro market I beleive for a couple of years at least.

When you forward a call on Cingular you only use minutes. No separate charges.

Maybe this it not want you meant, but according to the above article, if your an SBC customer (ie like in CT) you do not pay for the forwarding or use any cell minutes. Your land line bill takes over. Otherwise, you pay $3/month for the forwarding (but still only landline charges). The last option is free forwarding, but using your cell minutes (good way to use those roll over minutes). Plus the gadget only costs $40 and charges your phone too! In any case, the neat thing is that your mobile phone can now link to all your fixed home phones or say 2.4 Ghz wireless phones, giving you more freedom to pick up any convenient extension, plus no signal fading if your in a fringe area (or if you have coverage problems in your basement bunker) This is what the article says....have to wait for the real terms.

I was only referring to standard call forwarding.
