Back in October 2002, I was with T-Mobile...but my cell still said VStream, why was that?

Your SIM card needs an update.

Mine did too, I took it to the t-mobile booth in the mall and they updated my sim card.

Mine still says VStream. T-Mobile is in the process of updating all of them over the air.....

It just has to do with your SIM card. Older cards have old network names stored on them. (Omnipoint, VStream, Aerial, etc.)
