OK guys, got a question for all you Verizon experts out there and just a general opinion. See, at work we had a lost Verizon Wireless V120 with the nice blue backlight, etc. and i (the only one who) tried to contact the owner several times but to know evale. So, after several weeks of it sitting there i mentioned something to a co-worker who is also the night manager and she was just about to throw it away when i said i would take it rather than trashing it. The phone has no numbers in the phone book other than *86 for voicemail, when i call that number it gives an error message about the # dialed, and ontop of that when i updated the PRL it went from 50067 to 50083 which is a default tri-mode PRL meaning its not registered on any AC plan or anything like that. So, what should i do? Is the phone good to go to activate in case i ever decide to? or is the ESN and IMEI # still registered on VW's network? I hate to keep someone else's phone, b/c i know if i were in the situation with a lost phone i would want them to return it, but i would also try to get it back as well, which these people didn't by not calling back the number. Any thoughts or answers would be great. Thanks.

It could be a phone that was activated on FreeUp. For a long time, freeup didn't have it's own PRL and used the Tri-Mode default. My guess is, that if it hits verizon when you *611, the ESN is in their system and thus would most likely be blocked from activation.

120E's are not available on prepaid/freeup. I would take it to your local VZW store and have them check it out for you.

i tried the *611 and entered the # from the phone and the zip that i believed to be the billing zip to check the minutes used and it all came through with only like 5 peak used and zero for everything else , so, could the person have left the phone activated but not cared about it? or did they switch phones after losing it and all the info on the new one (# and zip) are the same as the one on this since it has whatever # he or she carried over to the new phone if any.

But jayc is correct, just take it to the store. Since the phone isn't really yours anyway, if they say you can't activate it and take it from you, all you really lose is a paperweight with a pretty blue light. Oh, and how did you attempt to contact the owner several times if the only phone number in the phonebook was *86?

Verizon dosent use IMEI as far as i know. Thats for GSM phones. However As long as the phone is not on the stolen list it should be fine to activate.

anthromatt, i knew because on the back of the phone they had a stickey attached to the battery door with that cell's number (which is programmed into the phone anyways) and another family member's # so i called it and no one ever answered or called back.
