I went to place a phone call on my cellphone the other day and got I a message stating that i have to call AT&T coustomer service in regards to my account. SO I DID. AND GET THIS. They told me that they cancelled my contract because I have 2 write off accounts totaling apporx $4000. One account was from 1992 and the other from 1998. Well here is where the fun starts. They cant prove that i ever had any accounts with them, they keep saying that its your social security number so its your account. So I asked them well send me proof that this is my account. there responce is that i have to fax a letter to their CREDIT INVESTIGATION TEAM. Well I did so i keep calling them to ask if the CIT got my fax and they tell that there is no notations on my account. I asked them if they can call and at least verify the the CIT got my fax and you know what NO ONE IN AT&T WIRELESS HAS A PHONE NUMBER FOR THIS SUPER SECERT DEPARTMENT. There is more. They are charging me for early termianation for a contract that they cancelled. There is a lot more to this story but hopefully you all get the point. AT&T cant t prove it, they dont know phone numbers to there own departments oh here is the kicker THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE FOR A CONTRACT THAT THEY CANCELLED. So if there is anyone out there with some suggestions let me know. And one more thing i asked well if this is fact how come my contract was approved without a security deposit last aug 10 the reply WE DONT KNOW WHY BUT THIS IS WHAT IT IS AND THATS IT. Well it looks like i will spending a lot of time in court with AT&T Wireless. SO any AT&T Reps out there chime in i would like her from you and see what say. |

Well im not an at&t rep but i do know this if they cant prove it you dont pay it. My suggestion is if they cant prove it was yours then counter sue for the loss of service terminated by them. Only you nkow whether those accounts were yours however if they were not your gonna make a good dollar on this. At&t is goin to the birds guess they will do anything fo a buck. However that dosent constitue them cancelling your contract. In the mean time go with another carrier till this is all sorted out. Hopefully they diddnt bash your credit for a new phone somewhere else. Good luck. And also they should know whos account it was ssn or not theres other ways of knowing besides the ssn. they are stolen easily. Look up the NAME on the account. Any checks paid on the bill in associstion to that account. The billing address on the account., ect..... hope you beat them !!!!

LMAO! Wow that's bad. Write them a letter and send a copy to the Better Buisness Bureau....I find that once its in writing people tend to take you more seriously. |

i am going to say it was analog fraud. esp. in ny. but as a rep. i have no direction to lead you. do the usual ask to talk to a super and thier super until u get somewhere. u can prob check w/the credit bureaus to get it listed as fraud and have it removed. i dunno i did not work in analog days so i can't help

A couple thoughts.... First - pull your credit reports from the 3 bureaus....if your account was in fact written off then there would be a notation as such. If there is a notation, then write to the credit bureaus...by law they have to have documentation before they can note your credit. If there are no notations, then - call customer care again...ask for a supervisor...and ask them to put you through to Resolutions...NOTE - You might have better luck getting hold of this dept. by going into a retail store and asking for their help. If you still can't get it resolved....then you need to call AT&T Wireless corporate HQ in Redmond, WA and ask for the CEO's office....when you get his secretary ask for either an address to send a letter or his email address. You need to send him a certified letter (BE POLITE BUT FIRM) and explain to them the problem...give him a reasonable amount of time to respond (5-7 business days is sufficient). Its rare that if you take it that far you won't get it resolved...and quickly. |

Partery Getting intouch with the CEO would be a great idea if i had the phone number. Again like everything else with AT&T that phone number is super secert. If you know the number please let me know. |

I'm going with identity theft....or a glitch. Someone must have opened up some phones under a different address; same name; same SSN. Or, they just phunked up. If you think it's identity theft, then contact whomever is necessary in ATT wireless division for fraud. If you are nice to them, and you get the right person, all should go well. Occassionally you will be a phunk-tard and they'll just keep saying, "I'm sorry but this is what my computer says." PRetty much the same for if they phunked up. I've dealt with companies that seem to "lose" your info when it goes into a collections-type state. Just be patient. It's not the end of the world. Eventually, your account will be cleared and so will your credit. Yeah, it might take a couple of months but that's what happens when useless human waste, that have no mothers, steal peope's info. Lets ALL just hope that the person that did this gets to watch their child run over by a garbage truck. Then, while they are scraping up the remains, that person gets run over by a steamroller. Then both of their remains will be mixed up and they can't have a nice burial. BUTT, even if they get a burial, lets hope their grave gets robbed and urinated in. That's my .02. Good luck. |

check out my second post in regards. title AT&T CORP OFFICE TO THE RESCUE. Well here is part 2 of the saga I took the advice of someone from my original post and contacted the corp office of AT&T wireless After calling about 12 numbers and Washing State information finally got the phone number and GUESS WHAT. I finally got to talk to someone who actually knows whats going on. Well here it goes. I called and asked for the Office of The CEO and was put through to Executive services. I went through the whole problem. Well AT&T wireless reinstated my account without hesitation credited me with a month free and even got the direct phone number to the Women incharge of the executive services. who promised to look into this matter and call me back in about a week. So it just goes to prove that sometimes the system actually works. Thanks for everyones help. and i will keep everyone posted. |

I've been a member of AT&T Wireless and I've been glad for the 2 years that I've been used it, and after hearing this, I'm shocked! I cannot believe that someone would have the nerve to do something to their customer that bad. I'm glad they fixed it, or else you definitely had the right to sue them any day of the week.

Hah...well looks like I might not be so shocked anymore. I just looked at my bill...and I was charged for the same ringtone 3 times...wow...I wonder what they'll do to me! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img]
