Just wondering what the reviews are by some of the users of the Samsung A530 in the DC area? I know, I know--it's all digital. But how's the sound quality, reception, dropped calls, usage in buildings, metro?

I travel between here and Northern Ca, so I'm looking for feedback.

thanks,

Red George

i would stay away from the phone for several reasons. firstly, verizon has had/continues to have so many problems with the software on this phone. the release of the phone was delayed for two months. they then released it and pulled it off the market when they realized more issues with the software. they released it again with bad software, and the fix fried the phone. secondly, the phone isnt great. as nice as a dual color display sounds, its not practical. it drains battery life and you cannot at all see it unless the backlight is on. it is also impossible to use outside because in bright light you simply cant read the display. the phone does have some nice features, but nothing you cant get with another phone.

in dc...i would get a phone with analog. especially if you ever use the metro because the analog signal seems to do much better down there than the verizon digital signal, and it would be included in your rate plan. i had no specific problems with the a530 in dc, except that as with all verizon phones, you need two or three bars to recieve a call, otherwise it goes straight to your voice mail.

id just stay away from the phone. the features are outdated for the cost. wait two weeks and get a vx6000 or a v60p, it will give you another feature and be better.

I didnt see the N. Cal part. I used to spend a great deal of tiem north of sf. digital service there was extremely unreliable and once you get an hour or so away from the city, it just wastn avalible once you get out there. if you ever leave the city, i would get a phone with analog.

Two weeks? I wouldn't necessarily trust that...I'm almost positive that they're going to push the date back further. But if they don't, then that's truly amazing! One of the first carriers to actually announce something on time...wow.

That wouldn't by any means be on time. July 1st is the revised release date for PTT. THe vx6000 was first supposed to come out jun. 1, then the 16th, now jul. 1st....Maybe the third time is a charm.

I wouldnt trust if it if it was the first release date they gave for a phone, especially not with verizon, but its the third.

Then again...the a530 was 3 months after its original date...regardless id stay away from it
