Okay, I'm generally a technical person, but all of this wireless stuff has advanced so quickly, I haven't been able to keep up. Here's the deal. I have the AT&T Digital One Rate plan with a Nokia 3360. I've had this plan for several years and although it's expensive, I find the service to be reliable with no holes in coverage. I travel all over the country 4 days a week (I live in Manhattan), so I need a One Rate type of plan (no roaming) and I need solid coverage (which AT&T has provided). Basically, I'd like to get a phone that is web enabled, and maybe even a camera-phone to have some fun with, but I'm totally lost about the networks. I cannot afford to degrade my service quality and I'm really not sure what my options are insofar as staying with AT&T, which is my goal. AT&T's phones are separated into two categories; Digital and Next Generation. Obviously my 3360 is Digital. It seems all of the camera and web enabled phones are Next Generation. The NG phones are listed as either "Tri-Band" or "Next Generation." If I go with one of these newer phones, will I have the same coverage as I have with my Digital 3360? Is there a difference in the coverage between "Next Generation" and "Tri-Band?" Will any of these work with both technologies? All of this "Band," "Mode," "Next Generation" and "Digital" nomenclature has become one big nebulous image in my mind. Here's the bottom line...I need the same reliability as I have right now with my Nokia 3360 insofar as coverage, but I'd like to upgrade to something that is web enabled and possibly with a camera, while staying with AT&T on a one-rate plan. I like your botom line question. Here is your botom line answer. From ATT you would HAVE to get one of thier Digital(TDMA) phones period end of story. The one rate plans only apply to the digital phones. The web enabled/camera phone stuf shouldn't matter to you at all considering you obviously use this phone for business and coverage is the only thing that realy counts. So stick with the Digital(TDMA) phones. If they try to stick you with a Next Generation(GSM) Phone point out the lack of coverage in upstate NY. or out west .

Like NYCDru said, you sould stay with you current plan and phone. But you also said that you might want a camera phone. If you want a camera phone, Digital OneRate like plan, and good coverage, then wait until Verizon releases the LG VX6000. You can sign up for the America Choice Plan and have awesome coverage and have a cool phone. |

Scalici26: True , if he is in Manhatan the other 3 days then Verizon is the best choice for his local coverage. Hopefully Verizon actualy releases the Vx6000 some time soon. |

I find it interesting that the AT&T web site lists the new Nokia 3560 as having a "WAP web browser," but when I just called to inquire I was told you MUST be on a GSM plan in order to have web access. Looks like the only advantage of the 3560 vs. my 3360 is a color screen. I guess I'll take your advice and stick with what I've got until such a time (if ever) the GSM network matches the coverage of the AT&T TDMA digital network. UEPilot |

You can always get an S46 on the One Rate plan. You will have web access wherever there is GSM/GPRS service, and old reliable TDMA where there isn't. It is basically 2 phones in one. The 3560 is completely different than the 3360, it is a GSM only phone. |

Actually, the 3560 is TDMA. The 3650 is GSM. You'd think Nokia could be a little more creative with their model numbers. I've heard the S46 is not a quality phone. But if it will give me web functionality along with TDMA coverage, it might be worth considering. UEPilot | |

UEPilot, keep in mind with the S46 you will have web service OR TDMA. You only get the web on GSM/GPRS networks, but you will still have voice service on TDMA when there is no GSM avalible.
