Default Bad reception - new phone?

I have a motorola 12e that I got about 6 months ago. In my apartment I have two bars of service, and I can't use the phone at all. Most of the time it doesn't ring and when it does and I answer it, it just is silent for a while then says call ended. I thought this was probably pretty normal until I got my fiancee a new LG camera phone (i forget the model) and it works great! She still only has two bars of service, but she can talk fine! So I've been in contact with verizon and complained. I said that if some phones dont get as good reception they should say that when they sell it and they said no, all phones get the same reception you just pay more for other features. So I took my phone into the store and they updated the software (now it says verizon aGPS on startup. Whats that mean?) but it still works the same. What should I do? I want to get a new phone, but I dont want to pay full price. I told them i would sign another two-year contract if it meant i could get a deal on a phone. What do you guys think i should do?

I do not think that there is much that you can do. If you want to take a chance, you can tell them that the phone has some sort of problem, that cannot be easily checked. Since, you have a one year warranty, they will just exchange it for a refurb. You can ask for a different model and hope for the best.

Why did u wait 6 months?
They have a 15 day trial period.
Or u can pay the Termination Fee,
use it near a window.

And you never dropped the phone right?

I've heard generally good things about the 120e so this is a surprise. As a suggestion, you may want to have a tech look at it. It could be that something inside jarred loose.

You can always check Ebay for an Inexpensive 2nd hand phone.
The Nokias have great reception, & there are plenty of 5185i's, 3589i's & 3285i's on Ebay cheeep

Talk about some deja vu here. I had the Motorola 120e phone and it worked fine and then I went in to have it flashed and they fried my phone and replaced it with another one. after that i couldn't hold a call in my home and it was doing the same stuff you mentioned in your original post.

Well I called customer service-nothing.. called the local manager at the verizon store- nothing. Got fed up and p'od and just canceled. I didn't care. gave it a few days and called corporate. Talked to Jared in Utah... they reactivated my account....reversed the early termination fee, and sent me a brand new phone as they were at fault. they also did not extend my contract. Now my phone is like what you stated your girlfriends is.. not full reception but has not problems holding calls and such. I use my cell phone as my home phone so it's important that i get calls in my home. My suggestion would be to call corporate as well...explain the situation. They have to be able to do something to help you. If they won't... well you can always either buy the phone full price or maybe find one on ebay???.

Good luck... let me know if it works out for you .
by the way...if you want to read all the other posts about my experiences..it's in the old forum. there is a link posted on the home page.

If you just call in to the regular customer service line...you can request corporate. I'm sorry I should've made it a little more clear.. (Corporate is like the high end managers...not the customer service call takers). Just ask to talk to a mangager
You can call the 1-800-2join in and request a manager...grievance department...you can also request a certain call center and they can transfer you. I just found some people that actually cared in Salt Lake City Utah...that's all. The guys name was Jared...his extension was 2105 I believe.. I'll have to go see if I still have the paper... but I do remember his name was Jared.

Just be honest.. I told them hey I've been with you for 8 years...you did this to my phone. This a cell phone business... if the phone don't work...I don't pay.. I just said that I couldn't get anyone who cared and I thought that Verizon stood behind their statement that the the first time you call your worry becomes theres.. It took me how many calls???? and to the point of cancellation??? When I explained the situation...they worked it out with me. Good luck

Have you tried other carriers where you live?
You may not believe it but they may have a stronger signal where you Live.

This is what I was telling THOSE who want to cut their LANDLINE,
Make sure you have a strong Signal at HOME. Or else you will miss all your calls when you're HOME.
