well there are going to be two phases first phase on november 15th you will be able to go cross market so if you in the new england market you will be able to direct connect with people in the new york market they have yet to release any adjustment in price. then on june 6th is the expected release date for nextel nationwide direct connect. im sure they wil lhave nationwide dc plans that differ from cross market and local too. |

let me guess you read tht in a forum or somewhere that is just a false rumor i have heard a few poeple talking about it and i actaully got to read what a guy said he is a beta tester and he got his hands on one but that was bull____ there were so many technical errors in that letter it wanst even funny. but thats probally becuase i sell them and i know pretty much everything about them. so there is no i99 , im sure there will be a i99 but not with the features he said and not till at east the end of Q1 or even Q2 of next year.

I heard something recently about Nextel working with Verizon and giving up Direct Connect. Something about the patent just about having run out on DC but Verizon being nice and not just taking the technology. Know anything about this? P |

Two questions about service... 1. When calling a Nextel, I often get the message, "Please hold while the Nextel subscriber you are trying to reach is located." It then sends me to voicemail. I know this happens when the user is in certain areas, but does this message also come up if the user is in direct connect mode, or whatever it's called? 2. Sometimes the phone rings three times before voicemail picks up, other times it rings once before voicemail picks up. Is there a Nextel feature, perhaps a button on the phone, that allows you to send the caller to voicemail? Whenever it only rings once, I'm determined the boyfriend is avoiding the call! :-) Thanks. |

lol I'll keep that in mind. I *knew* there was a reason I was wary of Nextel... ...and it's not just that annoying "beep-beep" sound. Which I hear in my sleep, I swear. |

No....It doesn't necessary mean he is avoiding your calls. If his phone is turned off, the voice mail will kick in right away.

If it goes to voice mail right away, then it's a good chance his phone is off. That has been my experience anyway. Tina |

You must be aware that a Nextel phone is always talking to the network, and it knows veryquickly if the phone is turned off or out of service. In addition, a quick person can look at the caller ID and immediately send the call off to voicemail via the button. I doubt anyone can distinguish between these two cases. And if he person decides just not to answer, well, now it can take a number of rings to go to voicemail.
