Default Nokia 6126 Help!

My 6126 screen broke and i am trying to copy the contacts from the phone's memory to my simcard. I noticed that someone helped out in a similar situation (http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/no...6101-help.html (Nokia 6101 Help)), so i was hoping someone might lend a few minutes to help me out.

My manual says the following:
Menu> Address Book > Names > Options > Copy contacts

I just need to know how to get to the menu and how many times i scroll to get to each subdirectory (i.e. enter to get to the menu; scroll down 2 times to get to address book (press enter), scroll down 3 times to get to Names; etc, etc.)

The middle button is enter, and then left, right, up and down for directional keys. Much appreciated if someone could lend a hand... please give instructions beginning pretty from the phone being on.

Thanks much in advance!

I would see if you can use this tutorial from the at&t support page for the 6126.

I don't have a 6126 to check it, but I suspect when you enter the menu you will be on "My Stuff" so that you would need to scroll right once to access the Address Book. Hopefully someone with a 6126 will be along soon to correct me if I'm wrong and/or to walk you through it from their phone.

Copy Contacts To/From SIM

Hope this helps!

That does help to a degree! Now i just have to figure out how many times to scroll to each one of those subdirectories. It did also give the idea, duh, of going into an ATT store and using one of their floor models to figure it out.

The amazing thing is, i went into an ATT store the other day and the clerk told me that it was IMPOSSIBLE to get the contacts off my simcard because the screen was broken. Seems like that would have SIM card readers hooked up to a PC in their stores that could handle this kind of things.

anyway, thanks for your help. I'll post my results.

If your contacts are on the SIM, you don't even need a SIM card reader — you can just move your SIM into a different phone and that's all. Another thing to try with the broken screen is using PC Suite to copy the numbers off the phone (assuming you have a cable or BT-capable PC).

right you are. i must have been half asleep writing that (of course if it is on the SIM, then you can take the sim card out and put it in the other phone... kind of one of the main points of having a SIM in the first place).

i don't have a cable to connect to the nokia pc suite, but THAT is something you would think the ATT stores would offer. it seems if i had the cable that would work.

didn't have a chance to go by an ATT store today to get the info to post, but should be able to tomorrow.

thanks for your suggestions.

Keep in mind that an AT&T store will probably charge an arm and a leg for the the cable. I used this cable with my 6131 with great success. One thing to note: when you connect 6126 with the cable to the PC, the phone will prompt to choose the "mode". IIRC, just pressing the OK button will set it to use the right mode.
