Hello Everyone, I have a Nokia 6230 that i used to regularly use n a daily basis. Since then i have had used other phones and have gotton a new sim card. I tried to go back to using my Nokia 6230 (with my new sim card) and everytime i turn on the phone, a screen shows up tat says "Phone restricted" (with a stop sign) and asks for a restriction code. I called AT&T/Cingular to ask for the original code and they gave it to me, i tried it, it didnt work. They also suggested typing in the wrong number 10 times to see if the phone then asks for the PUK Code or any other code, i tired that, it didnt work. The coustomer service person said that the original restriction code had been changed (i dont remember doing that). Does anyone have any suggestions at all. I am completely lost. PLEASE HELP!! thanks, nichelle |

Read this for a detailed explanation. If something's unclear, don't try anything come back and ask more questions here. You only have 5 tries to unlock it, so you don't want to waste any.

Hey, Thanks dmapr! I read everything and i basically got what to do, i just have some minor questions before i do it. Q1: When it says..... "Enter the first code it shows in the list that was generated for YOUR IMEI: #pw+(bunch of numbers, 15 digits)+1# and press the undo/ok button again" .... Do i actually type "pw" or does that mean password? .... Do i actually type the "+" sign or do i just type all of the numbers in without spaces between them? thanks again for all you help! nichelle |

"+": Hit the star key twice rapidly "p": Hit the star key three times rapidly "w": Hit the star key four times rapidly. Give a two-second pause between entering the "+", "p" and "w" characters. So you would go something like this: #, *, *, *, delay, *, *, *, *, delay, *, *, numbers, *, *, 1. At this point you want to double-check your code, before finally hitting the last pound sign (on an off chance the phone will process the code without waiting for the press of the undo button).

Looks to be a 6230b, but earlier version than what I was reading about. Here's a code I calculated based on the IMEI you PMed me. Do not enter this code, first check to see if it matches the code #7 from the set you generated on your own. If it does, then chances are your firmware was using an older algorithm and we need to seek out information on unlocking that. If it does not... I guess I would proceed, but I'd be sure to read this beforehand. #pw+782390506045000+7# |

I seem to be getting different codes: #pw+408837327660743+1# #pw+418847235660151+2# #pw+142044260072153+3# #pw+455217470314324+4# #pw+422907044021310+5# #pw+789190502733101+6# #pw+257115273523124+7# You only have a couple of tries left, so I'd be extra careful. Where did you calculate your codes and with what settings? Last edited by Jay2TheRescue; 08-08-2008 at 7:24 PM.

Hi guys, sorry to bother you with this - I've got one try left. My 6230 details: Nokia 6230 V5.35 03-02-05 RH-12 GSM P1.1 (c) NMP Language: V.05.35 03-02-05 RH12_28_- GSM P1.1 c I'm in the UK, I want to use my new 3 (Hutchison) SIM but the phone was with O2 - does that mean I'm meant to put 3 into the calculator rather than O2? I've been using 3, the codes I've been getting are: Model: Nokia (DCT4 ) IMEI: Network: 23420000 #pw+358 236 577 674 741+1# #pw+725 330 547 335 642+2# #pw+187 144 701 503 650+3# #pw+857 851 075 550 762+4# #pw+153 354 572 175 264+5# #pw+152 044 076 062 755+6# #pw+743 890 460 120 606+7# These are the same for the downloaded calculator (3.10) and for the online one. Hope you can help, cheers -Matt P.S. I've tried codes 1# and 7# Last edited by Matt Talor; 09-20-2008 at 4:35 PM. Reason: Extra info |

if the phone was originally with O2, then you need to put O2 in the calculator, not 3.

Thanks for that advice, unfortunately I had another two goes using numbers #1 and #7 of the new set of codes but neither of them worked. I'm 99% sure that I got 6 attempts rather than 5 however before the phone was permanently restricted, so hopefully that could be something useful that came out of this. Everyone knows these procedures are a risk but I'm glad it's worked for some. Cheers, Matt |
