Thanks to the info on this forum I used the downloadable program at http://unlock.nokiafree.org/ to unlock my AT&T branded 6200. Didn't have to worry about GEN, GID1, MCC or any of that complicated stuff I read about on other forums and didn't understand. Just followed the instructions and it worked with the #1 code on the first try. Yay! Reason I did this is I am traveling to Italy in the next few days and may want to get a pre-paid SIM. The 6200 is tri band 850/1800/1900. Is there any particular provider I should use or avoid? Anyone know what in-country calls or calls to the US should cost? Thank you, SteveW (posting in the International forum as well - hope that's OK) |

Hi Steve, All 3 providers (TIM, Vodafone and WIND) have coverage in almost all areas of Italy but most people prefer WIND since they offer an unlimited data plan that appeals to a lot of roamers. There is a sticky in the prepaidgsm.net forum which explains the process of how you can get a WIND SIM card ahead of going to Italy. http://www.prepaidgsm.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=888 Otherwise, you might want to consider getting a WIND SIM in Italy since they offer the most for your money.
