A friend has a Nokia 5165 and I bought her a light up antenna. It was a piece of crap I dont know if I installed it wrong which was probably the problem but we cannot get it to work whatsoever. The phone has terrible receptioin! HELP!! Do I need to do something with it or is there a place I can take it to get another antenna? How much does that cost?

JBradM, I've had a few friends get the "flashing" antenna nibs for their phones, all with poor reception. The latest one was a buddy of mine who put one on his moto i90c - he now carries the antenna that came with the phone in his wallet, and re-installs it when he desperatley needs good reception. what a pain! I think your only hope is to go back to the stock antenna that came with the phone. |

The lighted antennas are no good for reception and extended use of them can cause premature burnout of the amplifier chip in the phone not to mention that they do void the manufacturers warranty. I would recomend going back to the place where you bought it from and complain to them or else go to a repair center and see if they will replace with an original one. I would say it is going to cost you about $20.00 for a new original antenna and I would do it Asap to avoid further damage by the lighted antenna. Panama |

Yes, if you want your reception back, put the standard antenna back and if i were you i would stay with Nokia brand accessories so your Warranty will not be void too

My point is it will void your warranty, yes you have to prove it but most people donot know this , so i didnt want someone to send in there phone to them with the said aftermarket attachment and get there warranty voided....................
