I was thinking of purchasing a brand new 8890 on ebay, since it is about $200 less expensive than the store. It is unlocked, so can I just take it to ATT and have them program it? Is there other questions that I should be asking the buyer so that I can do this? Any experiences or suggestions on purchasing a phone from ebay. It's still a lot of money and I don't want to get screwed....Thx

I'm pretty sure the 8890 is 900/1800 MHz, so it wont work in the US. You better double-check on nokia.com to see if it runs on 1900MHz in the US.

8890 can be use in US coz it is a dual band phone with 900mhz and 1900mhz. It is a nice and cool phone. AS long as you bought it unlocked, you can go ahead and approcah AtT to activate the service. Hope this will help.

AT&T still may not activate it, i tried acouple months ago with a unlocked phone and got a hassle....call ATT first, read the sellers feedback to make sure hes legit

Beware....first thing you do is check if the seller feedback. If the seller is really in this kind of business. second thing make sure you pay by credit card and the item be insured with tracking number. Give seller at least 24 hours to provide you with tracking number. I was defrauded once already.

I think you got confused with 8890 and 8850. All 8890 is triband and work anywhere. Unlike the 8850 its dual band.

If the phone is new and in the box, will the warranty start when I activate it??? If not, does a warranty come into play at all??

The 8890 is a dual-band GSM 900 / GSM 1900 phone. The 1900Mhz band for use in the US and the 900Mhz band for international use.
