Picked up the 3589i last night....the purchase was on the assumption that the phone did very well in weak signal areas....which my house is in the middle of. Long store short, it did not do as well as my V60i or wife's A310...it was a disapointment. Took the phone back to the store today for my full refund.

Yes, Verizon is my provider. But, my AT&T, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile phones would not work at all at my house...so in that respect, Verizon is providing better service.

I am sorry to hear that. My Nokia 3589i KILLS my V60i when it comes to reception. Hands down...no comparison. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I even began to wonder if they didn't put up a new tower in my area at the same time I changed phones. Then I checked my wifes Moto V120, and hers still sucked. Oh well, there are many variables that could come into play that makes your results different than mine. |

Yes...I was surprised as well. There are terrain issues where I am, but the V60i and A310 were both better then the 3589i....but that is great that it is working out for you.

When I went back into the store yesterday, the Nokia was getting like 5 out of I think it's 9 bars (please correct me if I'm wrong), and the LG VX4400, VX6000, Moto t730&T720's all had 5 out of 5, or 4 out of 4, or 6 out of 6, just depending. I saw it wasn't getting all that great of reception, even with the antenna up? I wonder what happend, because it was getting great reception the other day, and now, all of a sudden..it doesn't? A possible software bug?

I had watched it loose signal and go into roam several times while I had it. It was not keeping a signal as well as my V60i or A310.

Hum......Not sure why it wouldn't be getting good signal now. It seems like something sudden that just popped up for the Nokia's to not have good signal. I say that because several people I know have now returned their Nokia's for that reason, and several people who have kept them because they have great RF..? All depends on the area I guess. My brother-in-law is coming down next week for a few days, he has the LG picture phone. I will get to see how that deals the weak signal at our house. |

It is amazing...you look at phonescoop and you see all the great looking new Nokia phones coming out...all GSM. Then you look at the 3589i, which just came out...there was not one thing impressive about the 3589i. I have an old Nokia GSM phone that is no longer in use, back from my Powertel/Voice Stream days. That phone, which was free and several years old...was more impressive then the 3589i. Why is it that the CDMA phones always seem to be inferior? Weak signal aside, the 3589i is a piece of junk when set next to other recenly released Nokia GSM phones. I really hope that Kyocera Slider takes off and they sell a butt load of them....then Motorola and Nokia will see they missed the boat. |

I guess I don't understand what's up with the RF?!? I also do have to admit, the phone's cool, but, it's not really anything special, compared to some of the GSM Nokia's coming out.

CDMA market = maybee...MAYBEE 150 million people, probably closer to 100 million. GSM market = at least 1.5 Billion people. Who would you make your best phones for? | |

Yes NYCDru...I basically knew the answer....probably, when a GSM carrier has as good of coverage of the US as Verizon does...I will switch. I travel a lot....and a fancy phone does me no good without a signal. GSM isn't there yet...but I supposed it will be. |
