I think I am going back to Cingular and wanted to use my old 5190 (cingular). CS told me that I had to purchase a new SIM card? I have been looking at all the posts and "unlocking" sounds like what I might need? Does that erase what is on the SIM, so it can be reprogrammed? CS said that a new card would cost $30!!!! I just want to see if Cingular in my area is better than it used to be, I don't want a new phone or spend a bunch of money or sign a contract yet. How would I "unlock" my phone? Thank you Kathy |

No, unlocking does not erase everything on your sim card. It basically removes a 2lock" from your phone, so it can accept any sim card, any network worldwide. There's a program (dct4 calculator) available that will give you a code to unlock dct4 phones. I'm not sure if yours is dct4 or not. There's no harm downlaoding it and trying it. Just read the instructions first. If you enter the wrong code 5 times, then your phone can't be unlocked.

I don't know if the calculator will work for your phone. The easiest way is to download it and try. If not the only way to unlock it is by connecting it to your pc via a cable

With the 6360 use the infared port if you can to connect to a computer. That will also work. The cable will cost somwhere between 35-50 $$. Just a thought.

There is no need for any cable with the latest unlocking s/w. All you need is IMEI and the original provider code (for example 31016 for T-Mobile). Software normally works for all DCT-4 phones. |
