I just read on a different website that by using the code *3370# you'll get better signals but reduced battery life. Anyone know if this is true? (just curious btw)

That code changes the CODEC used by your phone on the network. It will make a difference in the sound but has nothing to do with the signal. Most networks use EFR (Enhanced Full Rate) and you can use that code to change it to HR (Half Rate) which saves on battery life but sounds inferior. However, this may or may not work depending on the network. Your provider may or may not support it so using the code may not make any difference if the provider does not support HR.
