Hi all I've been doing some research. As original I went with the Nokia 3220 phone as it's smaller and it said it would do tones and all. Which is does...but no mp3 or real tones. It doesn't seem like T-mobile is ever going to support the phone as far as Hi Fi ringers..so I'm checking out the possibility of snagging a 3620 (unlocked...as I know this was a cingular phone) a 3660 from t-mobile or the 3650 tmobile. My quick questions are.... Can anyone confirm to me if the older 3650 model with T-mobile will play mp3 tones or midi tones (real music)?????? I know it doesn't have the 65k screen..only the 4,096 colors...but was checking into that one. And the Nokia 3620 seems to have higher ratings among phonescoop reviews even over the 3660 which is the exact same thing..right? Well any feedback you can give me would be great. Happy New Year to all! |

kjo, The 3620 was the GSM 850/1900 North American counterpart to the Eurasian Nokia 3650 which had GSM 900/1800/1900. The 3660 was the successor to the 3650 and added the 65k color screen.

Hello..thanks for the replies Okay perhaps I should've realized how I worded that question. I'm not actually looking for a phone that will be a stand alone mp3 player... i found out this about a Nokia 3620-Ring Tones: 24 chord / MP3 / WAV says it supports it.MIDI MP3 Player: no FM Radio: no Speakerphone: yes Push-To-Talk: no What I'm actually doing is taking clipits of songs and renaming the extension to a .mid file. This is what I did on my LG 7000 as well and then sending it as a attachment to my cell phone in the form of a email/multimedia message. My current nokia will play the polyphonic ones with the file.mid, but if I take a real song music tone -even if I rename it'll say format not allowed or something like that. That's my only beef with it. The voice recorder will record the songs...but sounds really bad. I mean it is after all a voice recorder. I'll probably end up waiting in the future,..I just like what it appears the 3660 or 3620 sounds like it has... and they are less expensive. No one out there probably uses these phones anymore huh? Thanks all! Have a great day. |

I don't remember what format those Series60 phones use for real music tones. But the best thing to do is to download the Nokia PC Suite software. It will put your clips in the proper format and upload them to the phone. I would save up a little more money and get a 6620 instead. It has a much better screen, more internal memory, better keypad, and stero output on the popport, and best of all smaller (way smaller).
